About this apartment rental
The apartment Alkmini is located between Malia and Sissi in an altitude of about 80 meters on a quiet hill. From your huge terrace you enjoy the breathtaking view all over the Bay of Malia with the fantastic sunsets in the sea and all over the Dikti-mountains. Alkmini is on the ground floor in a house with 2 apartments (upstairs: Omfali no. 24923). Alkmini is modern and comfortably equipped and has direct access to the garden. To Malia and the beautiful sandy beaches it will take you about 5 minutes by car, to Sissi on the other side, also about 5 minutes.
Excursions: Malia is an ideal destination to start a lot of beautiful excursions all over Crete: to Knossos, into the mountains to the plateau of Lassithi and into the cave where Zeus was born..., to Agios nikolaos, to Rethymnon or to Chania. 1-day-cruises are possible as well as hiking tours through the enormous Samaria-Gorge.
Walks: All around our hill leads a nice hiking path, about 45 minutes, partly bad road, that invites you for a panoramic walk.
Excursions: Malia is an ideal destination to start a lot of beautiful excursions all over Crete: to Knossos, into the mountains to the plateau of Lassithi and into the cave where Zeus was born..., to Agios nikolaos, to Rethymnon or to Chania. 1-day-cruises are possible as well as hiking tours through the enormous Samaria-Gorge.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The appartment was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We appreciated sitting in the garden to enjoy the views in the quiet neighbourhood. Wonderful sunsets. We made full use of the nearby beaches and historic sites. We definitely recommend this comfortable and friendly place.

Wir waren Anfang Juli 2018 zwei Wochen in der Ferienwohnung Alkmini von Kerstin. Meine Bewertung kommt spät, aber das macht sie vielleicht umso wertvoller, da die schöne Wohnung, das super Wetter, Baden, Ausflüge, leckeres Essen den Urlaub zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis machten, an das wir uns gerne zurückerinnern.
Die Ferienwohnung liegt traumhaft auf einem Hügel, wir hatten einen tollen Panoramablick auf das Meer und das Hinterland. Allerdings braucht man unbedingt ein Mietauto oder anderen fahrbaren Untersatz. Dafür ist es sehr ruhig hier und man ist abseits vom Massenbetrieb in Malia. Alkmini ist die Erdgeschosswohnung, im 1. Stock des Hauses ist noch eine 2. Ferienwohnung. Kerstin hat uns für den ersten Abend eingekauft, da wir erst spät ankamen. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an dieser Stelle! Die Wohnung ist schön groß, hat 2 Schlafzimmer, was wir sehr genossen haben, da dann unser Sohn und wir ungestört schlafen konnten. Wir saßen oft auf der tollen Terrasse oder in der Teakholzsitzgruppe gegenüber und ließen so manches Mal die Seele baumeln, schauten einfach Katzenkino, spielten Karten oder lasen. Es gab nämlich 10 Katzen bei Kerstin, davon 7 kleine, die sich allzu gern die Zeit in dem großen Garten vertrieben und den besten „Babysitter“ für unseren Sohn abgaben, den man sich vorstellen kann . Jedes Mal, wenn wir wieder „heim“ kamen, begrüßten uns die 3 Hunde von Kerstin freudig.
In der Wohnung gibt es alles, was das Herz begehrt und für einen erholsamen Urlaub wichtig ist. Außer viel Platz gibt es eine Waschmaschine, Geschirrspülmaschine, Klimaanlage in jedem Zimmer (die wir auch brauchten, da wir sonst wegen der Hitze nicht hätten schlafen können), auch Spiele und Hörspiele, Fön und Fernseher selbstredend. Die Mückengitter sind ganz neu und praktisch, da faltbar und daher auch ein guter Schutz für die große Terrassentür des Elternschlafzimmer und den Wohnungseingang – sowohl gegen die Mücken als auch die Katzen, die neugierig durch die Gitter kuckten. Handtuchwechsel gibt es sogar 2x/Woche.
Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt in der Wohnung Alkmini. Schade, dass man sie nicht einfach mitnehmen kann in den Westen der Insel, um Kreta noch von der anderen Seite aus zu erkunden.

Wenn man die Wohnung erst einmal gefunden hat, erwartet einem ein Traum. Toller Ausblick, super Einrichtung mit klimatisierten Zimmern. Von hier aus lässt sich Kretas Osten hervorragend entdecken. Neu–Malia sollte man meiden. Hier fühlt sich die englische Jugend wohl. In dem alten Malia erwartet einem tolle Tavernen und gemütliche Gassen.
Die Vermieter der Wohnung sind sehr freundlich, zurückhaltend aber sehr hilfsbereit. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig - man benötigt ein Auto. Aber genau so etwas haben wir für unseren Familienurlaub gesucht. Wir waren begeistert von der Wohnung und von Kretas Osten. Wir waren bestimmt nicht das letzte Mal hier.
