Country Cottage / Gite - Courmayeur

We had a wonderful stay in the chalet for a week over New Year. The house is a mountaineers dream with every bit of space maximised for utility and some clever contraptions. It’s cozy, warm, and the living area is bigger than it looks in the photos. We were 4 adults, and while there is space for 4 more people in principle, it would be more suited for children. The house also has a small garden from which we watched the fireworks and toasted the neighbours in the opposite balconies on New Year eve. It would be great to sit in and enjoy the mountains when the weather is a bit warmer. Entrèves is a wonderful alternative to Courmayeur. It’s a short bus ride or drive away from the main town, has it’s own gondola up to the slopes, as well as excellent restaurants and a wine bar. The chalet is about an 8 minute walk from the gondola so easy enough in the mornings. Skis can be stored underneath the property in the basement or at the gondola for a fee. Finally, Flavia was responsive and very helpful with check-in and our questions. Would highly recommend and hope to be back.

Stayed in UK half term and whilst not deserted, a great alternative to the crowded French slopes at this time. Courmayeur is 10 mins away with a bus stop close. But car is easier if you have one. That said there is a lift a few hundred meters away - easy down hill walk. I suggest any ski rentals be done at the top of this lift - where you can store them. House was full of character and as 2 families with 4 children we enjoyed cosy nights in. Down stairs is full of character and lovely to cook and sit around. Upstairs is more challenged for space for 2 families but the boys loved there ‘2nd floor den’. The large cellar helps with storage. With it being older and full of character expect the occasional glitch but nothing to worry about. Angelica the owner was super helpful and responsive- but only needed to ask her help once. Roads are narrow and parking is a challenge in the village - but we managed. Some great eateries close to the house - one only a few meters away. But most nights we enjoyed staying in and cooking - it’s easy to eat In Courmayeur after skiing or go back for the evening - one of the buses run late into the night. If you want to feel you are holidaying in a traditional Italian Alps village and house, then this is the place for you. The chalet host was flexible on how we could arrange the bedrooms but in reality there is only one double. The other 3 have bunks, with one of them an option to have a double mattress o a kind of mezzanine- but not great for (older) adults. Overall the house offers great value accommodation in the middle of fantastic village and mountain scenery. Really relaxing and easily accessible to Courmayeur town and ski area - we didn’t use the local lift until the last day so be sure to check it out earlier in your stay.

Wir hatten etwas Pech, erst fiel eine Sicherung aus, dann die Heizung. Angelica hat sich aber sehr schnell und erfolgreich unserer Probleme angenommen und sie gelöst. Das Haus ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und gut ausgestattet. Für 10 Personen wäre es etwas eng, aber vier Erwachsene und vier Kinder konnten gut leben. Ich frage mich nur, wieso in der Anzeige Wirlpool und Sauna stehen. Die gibt es schon, aber in benachbarten Hotels....

You never quite know what you'll get with holiday accomodation, AND IN THIS CASE we were pleasantly surprised, the chalet is better than the pictures suggest. Bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and a large open plan kitchen / diner / lounge downstairs which allowed all of of 7 person group to be togther in evening. The house feels like the owner stays there alot and has only slightly tidied up for the rented period. But we like that, it feels homely and there is lots of equipment, oil pepper and salt and stuff in the kitchen already. Water and heating hot. Comfy beds. What's not to like? Parking - you can't park by the house really because of the very small access lane. But we parked in the Val Veny lift car park without problems, its only a few mins away, and saves carrying all the ski stuff back to house. Val veny location is beautiful place, I never skied Courmeyeur before, quite small resort but we loved it, sunny crispy snow. One of the best skiing hols we have had actually , 5 stars. I never got to meet Angelica , the owner, but she was very good with communications, friendly and when the kitchen sink got blocked it was sorted out efficiently. Thank you. I hope to stay again, maybe in the summer for walking. Recommended.!
