About this cottage rental
The gite/cottage is a small detached building with an outside decked patio area.
Downstairs there is a modern kitchen with a fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher an independent electric oven and gas hob. there is a table and four chairs. The bathroom is also downstairs with a walk-in shower, hand basin and sink.
Up stairs ( not suitable for disabled or those with limited mobility ) is an open plan living/bedroom comprising of a double bed, wardrobe and bedside tables. There is a click clack sofa that converts to a double bed, a drawer unit and tv/dvd player. Pleumartin is based in the north of the Vienne region of central France, the city of Tours is just over 1 hour away and Poitiers is 40 minutes away. The gite is located on the outskirts of Pleumatin offering lots of peaceful counrtyside. The popular spa town of La Roche Posay is 7 kilometres away which has plenty of bars and restuarants, a golf course, casino, horse race track and spa facilities.
The area boasts plenty of places of interest for all including numerous chateaux, vineyards for wine tasting and purchasing, Futuroscope, a zoo, bird of prey center. There is also lots of areas for cycling and walking.
On site new for 2018 is an outdoor swimming pool (shared with another Gite that can accomodate upto 5 people) or you may like to explore our own woods. Pets are also welcome.

Very nice stay, just what was needed after living out of suitcases for a week touring northern France. Taller guests need to be a bit careful to cope with the stairs and low beams upstairs to avoid bumping their heads.

We stayed at Walnut Lodge from 22nd to 29th July 2025 while attending a wedding at a nearby château just 5 minutes away—and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The location was absolutely ideal, tucked away in a peaceful setting yet just 10 minutes from La Roche-Posay, home to an incredible spa, casino, and plenty of local shops and restaurants serving fantastic food.There’s also a lovely market held twice a week that’s well worth a visit.Our hosts, Lisa and Bryan, were exceptional from start to finish. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their beautiful home and gîtes—set against a stunning backdrop—were truly a sight for sore eyes. The pool was perfect (when the rain held off!), and what really made our stay extra special was their offer to transport us to and from the wedding, which was a massive help and so appreciated.And of course, we can’t forget Frankie, their friendly French Bulldog, who greeted us with a wag and a warm welcome every time we returned.If you’re looking for a peaceful, unique, and welcoming experience in the French countryside, we’d recommend Lisa and Bryan’s Walnut Lodge again and again. From the comfort and charm of the property to the kindness and hospitality of our hosts, we truly couldn’t fault our stay.Top tip: Make sure you have a car to explore the surrounding area with ease.– Michael & Jade

Wonderful week of holiday at the Walnut Lodge with our dog. The owner, Lisa, was very friendly and helpful, giving us many adresses to try. We had a lovely week enjoying the house and surroundings with our dog.
