About this chalet rental

Newly refurbished high quality fittings and decor. Fantastic fitted kitchen & luxury bathrooms, extra long 2 metre beds etc. Chalet Camillou is just 400m from the pistes and village centre. In the morning the cable car, ESF Office and pistes are just a 5 minute walk. You can leave your equipment in the ski store in the rental shop in the village at the end of the day. You can then wander back to the chalet without struggling in heavy boots and having to carry your skis and poles. You might even be tempted to drop into the Timbale Bar for a bit of après ski on the way back. This is a luxury, stylish chalet with a high spec. It has a mixture of traditional and modern décor, with aged wood panelling and smooth plaster finishes. It has a new open plan kitchen with brand new appliances and the spacious living and dining room has large picture windows and sliding doors onto the elevated terrace and balcony. The living room has a wood burner and plenty of comfy seating. During the day, sunlight streams in through the south facing windows and patio doors giving a tremendous feeling of light and space.
It has amazing facilities for a self catering chalet with access to a beautiful SHARED Indoor Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi and Fitness Suite. Also a large games room with table tennis and table football.

Champagny Village: Champagny is an authentic mountain village with a character that still reflects its ancient farming origins. Tiny paths link old farms and chalets in a village where traditional Savoie life and modern tourism mesh seamlessly together. The village has a lively atmosphere with shops, bars & restaurants within easy walking distance.

Skiing & Boarding at Champagny: A cable-car whisks skiers to the Champagny ski area (2000m) in just 7 minutes which is where you’ll find the nursery slopes. Three brilliant long blue runs are great to learn on and progress to while advanced skiers can zip on to the superb off piste either side. You have a choice of two red runs to take you back to the village at the end of the day. Champagny offers direct access into La Plagne, but is less busy, so is much quieter and more pleasant, especially during peak weeks.

Skiing & Boarding at La Plagne: The whole ski area covers 210km of finely groomed pistes in one of the biggest interlinked ski areas in Europe. With over 100 blue and red runs to cruise down, most skiers and boarders can travel vast distances around the 11 villages. Some very long black runs descend the Bellecote Glacier (3250m) both on and off piste, into the pretty tree lined valley of Montchavin. There are also numerous mogul fields in the area and a board park in 'Plagne Soleil'.

Christian was at the property on arrival to give a guide tour. The property was as advertised and provided all the facilities we could have wished for. One or two minor problems were rectified within hours. The immediate area has facilities/activities for people of all ages and the commercial units in the village provided a variety of retail opportunities.

Great chalet, lots of space, good kitchen, good facilities 10 min trek up the hill to the village is a challenge with skis and boots (we drove our gear up) but public lockers are available at €2/day, there may be lockers at the hire shops

We really enjoyed our stay at Sapiniere. The views are stunning and there are open fields behind so you can get out and walk or sledge really easily. BarrelliI Ski run a group of chalets with one for the staff so you have help close by but no-one living in your chalet which is perfect. The team are relaxed and friendly. The facilities are great, more than half our party are kids so having a play area, games room and pool was brilliant. The view from the pool is amazing. It would have been handy to have a box of toys for young children and something the team could provide very easily.. The food was very good but the children’s menu was a bit basic and it would have been nice to see more fruit and veg offered with a variation on ice cream for dessert. The town is pretty and has a few nice restaurants, supermarket, chemist etc. The walk to the lift is up a steep hill. There is a series of steps at the top making it a challenge with a pushchair. There was another way but it was apparently a half hour walk rather than 15 minutes( I didn’t try it). The skiing in Champagny is great and La Plagne is vast, we didn’t get close to exploring everything. The queues for the telecasting first thing are long but even though it was half term we found the slopes not overcrowded We had a fractured wrist and this was handled super quickly and easily at the local medical centre ( X-ray, cast and out in under half an hour!). The Barelli Ski team has relationship with the ski shop next to the lift where you can leave your skis ( you would not want to get them up and down that hill). Getting 5 adults and 6 kids fitted up in this tiny shop was pretty hideous and took over 2 hours. Overall, I’d rate this Chalet very highly and we look forward to visiting again Show less
