We had a lovely holiday in Tuscany. The landscape is stunning — full of vineyards, rolling hills, and natural beauty. The outdoor area of the property, especially the clean and well-maintained pool, was absolutely beautiful and where we spent most of our time. Every other evening, we tried a different local restaurant or pizzeria and were never disappointed. The walking trails around the house were peaceful and relaxing.The house itself, however, was a bit of a contrast. Being an old stone building, it heated up significantly during the day. There was only one fan, which helped a little, but a proper air conditioning system — or at least mosquito screens — would have made a big difference, especially at night when ventilation wasn’t possible without letting insects in.On arrival, the kitchen wasn’t as clean as expected, so we washed all the dishes and cutlery before using them. Despite keeping the house tidy, we regularly noticed ant trails in the kitchen and bathroom.We chose this place because of the outstanding reviews, so we wanted to share a few details future guests might find helpful: the owners live just a few meters away on the same property and walked past the house several times a day. While this didn’t bother us, there was little interaction, no local tips, and the language barrier made communication a bit limited.Overall, we had a wonderful stay — just a few things to be aware of that may help future guests manage expectations.

Unusually hot week in Barberino Val De Elsa for everyone. We how ever had no air conditioning. One fan was provided. The sleeping loft was upstairs so it was warm. We managed, then we bought two other fans for the remainder of our stay. This helped . We also bought at the local appliance store an American coffee maker. This really helped our mornings. The bed was comfortable, bathroom clean, towels and linens nice. We brought all our cooking spices and purchased olive oil locally. There needs to be a grill, especially in the summer months to enhance the stay and allow for some dining at home. The pool was the best part of the cottage stay. We swam 2 times per day just to get out of the 90degree living space . The grounds are stunning and well maintained. It’s a beautiful property! Loved the olive trees, flowering plants and lavender! The surrounding area is amazing. We are agritourism folk and we be returning next 10/2026. Lord willing… The cottage could benefit from 2 ceiling fans. Just to move the air around in the lounge space and sleeping loft . We appreciated our experience and will not book in the summer likely again , without air conditioning. Some wire screens on the windows upstairs would help with the insects from entering the space. The heat was humbling .. the pool was the gem . Thank you Ms Loretta and family. We appreciate you all. We had the most wonderful week at this beautiful holiday home in the heart of Tuscany! The location is absolutely stunning – peaceful, surrounded by rolling hills, olive groves, and vineyards. It truly feels like a little slice of paradise.The house itself was cozy, clean, and very well-equipped with everything we needed. It had a lovely rustic charm while still offering all the modern comforts. We especially loved sitting outside in the evenings, enjoying the breathtaking views and the sound of nature.This place is fantastic for children! Our kids had so much space to play and explore safely. Loretta is a perfect host, we hope to come back soon!
