Me and my bestie stayed at Star hostel in Milano city, its close to the center, only 20 minutes by bus, bus stop is in front of the property, the tram line is one street apart.
The room was okay,with wardrobe, two commode and bed/bedsheets. We had a private room with balcony, its cool.
The building is old, but there is an elevator and the door is opening by code(its safe).
I have to mention that every guest should leave the key in the hostel and you can pick it up when you back, but the reception works until 12:30 midnight, so no coming back to hostel after that time.
Facilities were ok, but it would be great to have a hair dryer and the oven. The fridge is inside, you can keep your food there.
The guys in the reception were amazing, very helpful and friendly, they gave us some recommendations about staying in milan and visit como lake.
Cleaning topics are kinda difficult, the bathroom is shared with other rooms. Its not that much dirty that you cant use, but still not in the best shape.
In overall, I'm satisfied with staying in this hostel, its budget friendly and close to the center.

I really didn’t like this hostel at all — it was the worst I’ve ever stayed in.
They lock the doors at 12:30 a.m., which prevents you from enjoying the city’s nightlife.
The staff were extremely rude — I had an incident there: I was cooking instant noodles, and by accident, a small amount of sauce spilled on the floor. The staff member started shouting, scolding me, and even hitting the walls as if I had killed someone. Then he said, “Next time I won’t talk to you like this,” and turned into a complete monster. It was truly horrible.
Not to mention that I had to make my own bed, and the window curtain didn’t close properly, so the sunlight woke me up early in the morning. They only have two toilets, which is absolutely not enough for the number of guests, and you have to wait a long time for your turn.
I strongly advise you not to book there — don’t be fooled by the cheap price.

The staff was pretty annoying. Didn't let me even leave my heavy luggage before check-in. I had to roam around with the luggage for hours before they let me in. He was a cranky one had problems with everything. Location wise it's pretty decent if you want to stay near the milan city centre. It's a 20 min bus ride. But far from airport. So keep that in mind.
