BRUNTHWAITE COTTAGE , Silsden, Nr Ilkley. Grade II. Pet Friendly

We had a wonderful time at this cottage over the Christmas holidays. The house had been decorated and a wonderful welcome pack was there for us on arrival. The house was clean, warm and very well equipped. The location was perfect quiet but within walking distance from Silsden with a range of pubs and supermarkets.The communication with the host was very good.I would highly recommend this property. The property was clean and well presented. Out in a quiet village but at the same time only 5-10 mins from a supermarket. Well stocked kitchen enabling meals to easily be prepared there. Host was friendly, welcoming and made sure we knew how everything worked.

We booked a long stay, with our 2 Dogs, as we were 'Between Houses' from mid November to mid January. The cottage is a lovely grade 2 listed 3 bed stone cottage full of character with wood beams and thick walls. Even with the Snow and very cold weather the cottage was very cozy.Kitchen has all the amenities and a well stocked cupboard.Our Host Lynne was truly fantastic and very helpful with anything we needed.The area is beautiful with the Leeds Liverpool canal a 10 min walk away and the circular walks from the cottage were inspiring. A 10 minute walk to the closest town (Silsden) has everything you need and is a picturesque Yorkshire town.If I could give 6 stars I would house, location, host, amenities were all excellent.Fully recommend this property and area but the property owner Lynne made it special, a real home away from home.

Lynne was a great host, the house was clean with everything you could need. The kitchen was beyond well equipped and the items left for our arrival, included a nice bottle of wine were a lovely touch. A really difficult review to write based on my giving 5*s for all the key elements. The issue we had was that the house itself had been constructed in a way that means really limited sound proofing between upstairs and downstairs and the upstairs floors creaked with every movement, even turning in bed in the night is noisy, even though we bought ear plugs to help! If you are a small family unit it's not such a problem perhaps but if not, eg we were with my aunt, then sitting in the lounge listening to someone upstairs run the bath, then get into the bath and then splashing about isn't great. All conversations downstairs could be heard upstairs too. Please take this review based on your own priorities, and if none of the negatives bother you then this is a really lovely place to stay.
