About this house rental
Churchdown is a beautiful large Victorian family home in Chippenham – a perfect location for exploring the wonderful Wiltshire towns, villages and countryside. For example the lovely villages of Castle Combe and Lacock are both within a few miles, while historic Georgian Bath is easy and quick to get to either by car (13 miles) or by train (15 minutes from Chippenham Station which is just 5 minutes walk away).
The Designer Outlet Village in Swindon is also close - one junction along the M4, or a 15 minute train journey.
The extremely dog friendly house sits in a fully walled garden of about 1/3 of an acre, with beautiful walks along the river Avon a couple of hundred yards from the door. There are four substantial bedrooms - three double with at least king size beds, and one twin. The master bedroom has a four-poster bed and stunning travertine tiled en-suite bathroom with cast iron bath and separate shower. The attic bedroom is perfect for several children.
There are three separate rooms to relax in: a more formal drawing room complete with organ (the foot pumps mean you can get lots of exercise too!); the 30 ft long garden room with french doors leading to the wooden decked terrace, and the sitting room with wood-burning stove, as well as HD television, Sky, DVD player X-Box and wi-fi hub. You are welcome to read any of the few hundred books available, or maybe try one of the board games or jigsaw puzzles in the games cupboard.
The dining room comfortably seats 8 around its oak table, and the kitchen is a cook’s paradise, equipped with an Aga, as well as a four-ring gas hob and gas oven and the separate utility area has a second sink, washing machine, and two large fridge freezers available for your use. If you want a break from self-catering there are a number of pubs and take-aways in Chippenham itself, and we can also recommend a number of local village pubs and restaurants within a 10 mile radius from simple to Michelin starred.

Our 3rd stay here for Christmas. We love the space, so much room for kids to run around and explore, play hide and seek, or if you need to find a quiet space for yourself for 5 minutes! Kitchen is great, the aga makes it so warm and cosy and the island for socialising around. 2x large fridge freezers was enough for our family of 8. Town which is only 5 minutes away, and play park by the river is 5-10 minutes. The only downside is the noise of the traffic when you’re trying to get to sleep but you get used to it or just bring some earplugs. I feel the positives far outweigh the one negative though. Quick communication with the host, easy to get into property, wood for the fire and a food parcel on arrival are great.

Andrew was a very responsive host and quickly responded to a big problem we had on arrival. We chose the location as it was a mid point for each of us , for a weekend family get together. We walked to nearby park on both days. The house and had plenty of space both inside and out. Room to park one car in the garage and two outside of the garage. Beds very comfy.

We hired this house for a get together with friends and this house was fantastic, all of the travelling party loved the house and had a fantastic time, there was plenty of parking and the garden and furniture made it a lovely place to relax in the evening sun with a glass of wine. The house itself is a lovely place and the online photos do not do its beauty justice. As a group we have all said we would be happy to stay at this property again in the future
