About this house rental
Casa Rambaldo is an independent holiday home for up to 4 guests, with a private, fully fenced garden, located within a historic castle, in the heart of one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages.
This charming 85 m² stone house was once the residence of medieval guards and has since been transformed into a quiet and comfortable retreat.
Carefully restored in 2012 with great respect for the original materials and proportions, the house features terracotta floors, exposed wooden beams, and a warm, authentic atmosphere—ideal for guests who appreciate genuine historic places and tranquility.
Layout of the house
Ground floor:
Double bedroom with direct access to the private garden, furnished with a comfortable double bed and antique furniture
Bathroom with a spacious shower finished in green-blue mosaic tiles
Fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances and a marble dining table
Cosy living area with sofa and satellite TV
Mezzanine:
Small second double bedroom, accessible via an antique staircase
Outdoor spaces:
The house has a private, fully fenced garden for exclusive use, perfect for relaxing and dining outdoors.
The garden is equipped with wooden table and chairs, deckchairs, sun loungers, and a barbecue.
Guests also enjoy exclusive access to the castle’s historic gardens, a rare privilege immersed in peace and nature.

Casa Rambaldo is located in the historic centre of Strassoldo, one of I Borghi più belli d’Italia (Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages), a small, authentic village that is still very much lived in.
The historic centre consists of two contemporaneous fortified complexes: the Castello di Strassoldo di Sopra, owned by our family for over one thousand years, and the Castello di Strassoldo di Sotto, belonging to our relatives.
Although small, the village offers essential services:
grocery shop
post office
hairdresser
café
4 restaurants, 2 of which are within walking distance
Connections:
Beaches of Grado: 20 minutes by car
Venice: 1 hour
Trieste: 35 minutes
Udine: 20 minutes
Slovenia: 30 minutes
Austria: about 1 hour

Dining by candlelight in the garden is a special pleasure, as is walking or driving a short distance to one of the excellent local restaurants, before returning to a quiet and sheltered place.
In the evening, the village becomes especially atmospheric, with soft lighting, silence and a clear night sky, ideal for those seeking relaxation and rare, unspoilt surroundings.

This property is fabulous.Full of character and incredibly peaceful and comfortable. It is so well equipped and makes you feel at home immediately. The garden is also a lovely place to relax. The Barbagianni Osterea and Trattoria Fricheria and brilliant and a quick walk away. I will be reccomending all of this to friends and family.

Lage und Erhaltungszustand des Castello sind wirklich außergewöhnlich. Viele kulturelle Ziele in der Umgebung sind kurzfristig erreichbar. Die Wohnung war komplett eingerichtet und verströmte die Aura der letzten Jahrhunderte.
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können Castello Strassoldo uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Die Unterkunft entsprach im Wesentlichen den Beschreibungen und Fotos. Im Inneren des Hauses war es eher düster. Ansonsten wie auf den Bildern zu sehen. Der Garten und auch die Parkanlage waren sehr schön und gepflegt. Außerdem gut ausgestattet (Tische, Liegen,Sitzgelegenheiten). Leider waren während unseres Aufenthaltes extrem viele Insekten unterwegs, je nach Tageszeit unterschiedlich viele. Dies führte dazu, dass wir bedauerlicherweise den eigenen Garten und den Park ab der Mittagszeit kaum nutzen konnten, ohne komplett zerstochen zu werden. Da der Garten das Schönste an der Unterkunft ist, schränkt dies unsere Gesamtbewertung der Unterkunft ein und führte dazu, dass wir uns hauptsächlich zum Übernachten und Frühstücken in Strassoldo aufhielten und die restliche Zeit anderswo verbrachten.
Bei unserer Ankunft und Abreise wurden wir von Nedia begrüßt und verabschiedet. Sie war sehr freundlich und herzlich, jedoch war die Kommunikation deutlich eingeschränkt, weil sie ausschließlich italienisch sprach, was wir beide nicht beherrschen.
Zusammenfassend handelt es sich außerhalb der Moskito-Hochsaison um eine besondere und empfehlenswerte Unterkunft.
