About this villa rental
Charming independent villa with private swimming-pool situated in panoramic location, on the hills around the beautiful medieval town of Cortona, approx. 750 m above sea level. This property is surrounded by beautiful woods and offers tastefully furnished interiors and a cosy atmosphere. The location is ideal to enjoy the peace of the Tuscan landscape and at the same time to visit the most important historical cities of the area.
The access to the property is via an unpaved but well-maintained road.
Distances: the small village of Portole with food shops 6 km away, Cortona with al kinds of shops 13 km, Città di Castello and Arezzo approx. 40 km. Lake Trasimeno is about 30 km away.
At guests’ disposal: furnished garden, beautiful irregular-shaped swimming-pool (ca. 7 x 14 m – maximum depth 2,4 m), veranda equipped with tables and chairs for “al fresco” dining, barbecue. Use of a washing-machine and ironing facilities. Parking with the grounds.
Extra Services: Baby bed available on request. Upon request chef service available for nice Tuscan dinners.

Having stayed in the villa in October I would suggest you take warm clothing with you as the property is situated high up in the hills where the temperature drops quite low in the evening. There is a wood burning fire which heats the radiators and once up to heat the house becomes quite cosy. I think as one previous reviewer put it quite succinctly, to just do a weeks shopping and hide away for the rest of the time. I say this as although it’s only approx 13km from Cortona, it takes about 30 mins to get there as the road has a lot of bends. The villa itself has all the amenities and Margherita was a wonderful host albeit our communication was somewhat limited as our Italian is not great and she doesn’t speak much English. The countryside was quite stunning different from other parts of Tuscany, being more rugged. Finally I have to say that the food was quite delicious in each of the restaurants we visited, would well recommend if you’re a foody.

Villa Margherita is located at a beautiful place in the mountains where you can enjoy absolute privacy. The owners are very nice and have a good restaurant right in the next house. The food is delicious and very cheap.

very good place, lovely family looking after you in a stunning position. Do your food shopping for a week and barricade yourself in for a real rest.
