A beautiful authentic Bavarian farmhouse in a picturesque village. It is an excellent location for biking around Chiemsee or hiking in the Alps. One can opt for biking around the green meadows or go higher up the hills. The family running the place is very friendly and helpful. We also liked the breakfasts. For dinners there are restaurants a few minutes walk away. We stayed for a week and only wished we had more time to spend there.

The location was excellent for our needs (we stayed there 9 nights). The property is actually in the village of Rottau. It was easy to explore the town on foot from this venue. There are many walking tracks and bike trails nearby. The apartment was roomy and had all the facilities we required (except for WiFi). WiFi was however available at the Tourist Bureau approx. 300 metres away and going to be connected became a nice daily morning pilgrimage for us. A small general store and several Guesthouses/Hotels/Restaurants are also nearby. There is also a church nearby - the bell ringing added to our enjoyment when we were on the balcony (note you could hardly hear the bells when the doors and windows were closed). Our second floor balcony provided a lovely outlook and a great place for relaxation in the evenings. Parking was provided. Although we had difficulty in communicating with our hosts (due to language limitations) they were very friendly. The main road servicing Rottau provided easy access to the nearby towns of Grassau and Bernau (bigger supermarket and a great bakery) and to the Autobahn to access Munich or Salzburg. Railway access to these big cities is also available at Bernau.
On arrival (but only on the first day) there was a strong cattle manure related smell from the dairy located adjacent /part of Schwaigerhof property. Apart from our initial towels no new fresh towels were supplied during our nine night stay.
