About this house rental
Tidal Wave is a beach lover’s dream, offering a seamless mix of relaxation, fun, and comfort right on the private sound-side beach of Dauphin Island. The home’s warm and welcoming interior gives off an elevated coastal vibe, filled with natural light, high ceilings, and thoughtful decor that blends traditional and modern styles. With a private pool and multiple outdoor spaces including a pergola-lit tide pool and an under-house entertainment area, Tidal Wave sets the stage for unforgettable family vacations and even weddings or events.
The open-concept living and dining area creates a large social hub with an oversized sectional, playful coastal accents, and a shared double-sided fireplace. The dining room’s farmhouse table comfortably seats ten, and the adjacent bar area makes for a great spot for casual conversation. The kitchen, just off the main living space, is a galley-style layout with a large central island, wall oven, and breakfast nook with bay windows that deliver direct beach views.
The sleeping arrangements at Tidal Wave include:
• East King Bedroom (First Floor): King bed, access to Jack-and-Jill bathroom with tub, shower stall, and large countertop space.
• East Bunk Room (First Floor): Two twin-over-full bunk beds with pull-out trundles, large TV, standing arcade console, and access to the Jack-and-Jill bathroom.
• NW King Suite (First Floor): Gulf-facing windows, private bathroom with a shower stall.
• SW Bunk Room (Second Floor): Single-over-full bunk bed.
• Master King Suite (Second Floor): King bed, TV, balcony access, luxurious bathroom with raised black jetted tub, panoramic views, black granite countertops, and a sleek modern design.
• East Queen Suite (Second Floor): Queen bed, TV, private balcony access, bay window beach views, private bathroom with shower-tub combo.
The outdoor experience at Tidal Wave is just as impressive as the inside. The first-floor deck includes covered dining, a grill, and a raised deck with a private heated pool (the heated pool can be turned on for an additional fee of $200 per day), offering panoramic beachfront views. Down below, a pergola-lit area surrounds a natural tide pool, with Adirondack chairs and a footpath leading to the private sound-side beach. This beach is perfect for younger swimmers thanks to its gentle slope and calm waters, free from rip currents and with fewer marine hazards than Gulf-side beaches.
The under-house area is more than just storage, it’s a beach hangout zone. Hammocks offer a relaxing spot with ocean views, while the game and fitness area features cornhole, giant Jenga, a punching bag, heavy rope, plyo boxes, and a pull-up bar with rings.
Tidal Wave also offers a golf cart rental option and is wedding- and event-friendly. The second-floor balcony offers shaded seating areas for enjoying the view, whether it's morning coffee or a glowing Gulf sunset.
As with all of our Dauphin Island Beach Rentals, all linens and towels are provided, WIFI, along with a fully-outfitted kitchen. There will be a starter pack of toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags; please plan on bringing more for day 2 ;). A great beach vacation is waiting on you!
Please note the following:
1. Minimum Age for the Primary Renter is 25, and Primary Renter must be present for the entire stay.
2. Maximum Occupancy numbers include Children 3 and over and cannot be exceeded at any time.
3. All of our Homes are Non-Smoking.
4. A signed Rental Agreement is Required, which contains additional Rules and Guidance.
5. This property does not allow weddings or parties.
6. Check-in time is 3 pm, and check-out time is 10 am.
7. Start dishes and linens before departure.
8. Take the trash can to the street on Tuesday night and Friday night.
9. This home is NOT pet-friendly.

Home was in great location with so much potential. Great amount of space for a large gathering. Spent thanksgiving with family here and we enjoyed it. The biggest negative with this property was the cleanliness and repairs that are needed. The home was not properly cleaned for our arrival, dirty floors, some rooms sheets were dirty, rugs had not been swept/shaken out (full of sand), toilets dirty. There are loose boards on the front porch rails, nails sticking out. The hot tub does not work (empty and dirty) which is one of the main reasons we booked this specific home, knowing we’d have colder weather. Overall, we loved the home but the negatives outweighed the positives. I’d wish to come back one day and see there to be more effort in maintaining the property.

Our family enjoyed the spaciousness of this home and the easy access to both the bay and the gulf beaches. Several rooms have been updated. There are two washers and two dryers which was also nice. However if you are thinking about renting please read on….the house needs a lot of repairs. The pictures on VRBO are misleading. There are broken windows upstairs, a closet door fell off, the ice maker doesn’t work. There are areas on the pool deck that are rotted or the rusty nails have pulled out of planks and they pop up when you step on the other end. We marked areas with painters tape where our children weren’t allowed. The gate from the main deck to the pool lost all the screws in the top hinge so we were unable to close it correctly. I notified our contact and was told that there were never any screws in that hinge...it was four days before it was repaired. We had five children with us. I don’t consider this acceptable.
We used all three bunk beds, only one had a functional ladder. We requested that the missing hardware be replaced on the other two. We were told this was a liability issue, new ladders had been ordered. We never saw them.
The kitchen is well stocked but the oven does not heat correctly. Preheating took about an hour and it never reached the desired temperature requested. Outside doors on the back deck don’t always close. Some won’t lock.
We have rented beach homes for over 20 years. This is the first time safety has been an issue.
