We stayed 6 weeks in the apartment. Elena, our host, was really helpful, and easily reached on WhatsApp or by email / text. Her English is excellent, which avoided any communication issues for me as I don't speak Italian. The couple of minor things I asked for, were promptly supplied. The apartment is in a small neighbourhood area, where you really do get to recognise the locals! The terrace gets the morning and early afternoon sun, and we spent most of our time there, when we were in the apartment. There are several supermarkets in easy walking distance, and local fruit sellers, butchers, chemists, deli's etc supplying everything that you need. The bakers downstairs makes delicious croissants, and their ready-made canneloni and lasagnes are great. But be prepared to get up early, They sell out quickly! There are plenty of restaurants nearby, from takeaway pizza, to fish and traditional trattoria. Not to mention great gelateria! It is easy to get into town from the apartment. We mainly used the 44 and 75 buses, which you can get a couple of blocks from the apartment. Quattro Venti train station is a few minutes walk away. We discovered a quick way back from town - a 64 bus which goes past the Vatican, to S Pietro station, where you can hop on a train to QV which only takes 5 minutes. It's far faster than the 982 bus.... (Note - the buses aren't great on a Sunday!) Bus tickets last 100 minutes and cover the local trains, buses and 1 metro connection, so you can change buses easily. It is only a short walk downhill into Trastevere, or Porta Portese (great Sunday morning market), but you might want to take a bus back - it is up quite a steep hill. There are several nice parks nearby Parc Pamphili is huge, and only a block or two away. We walked for hours in it, and it is a lovely place just to sit on a bench and watch the world go by. The apartment has free-standing fans in each bedroom, and a portable air-con unit in the lounge (which we needed a bit in our first couple of weeks). The bathroom has also been upgraded, and now has a walk-in shower rather than a bath. Elena left us plenty of bed-linen because she knew we were having visitors during our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Rome!

The apartment was quite spacious, comfortable, and had all the basic needs. The terrace was a wonderful addition and was the perfect place to sit in the evening with a glass of wine. The host, Elena, was very friendly and helpful. She even went out and purchased our Roma passes for public transportation when we arrived. What made this place and stay so wonderful was the location. Monteverde is away from the tourist mob scene but easily accessible by bus or by walking. By being away, it was a real neighborhood. There was a bakery next to the front entryway for bread and pastries; Angelo's for cappuccino on the corner; a couple of nice little restaurants nearby; two nearby supermarkets, shops within a block for homemade pasta, cheeses and sausages, meats, and gelato. You soon felt yourself to be part of the neighborhood. Two street markets were within a couple of blocks, featuring fresh produce, flowers, meats and fish and there were also two very large city parks nearby. You could really experience Roman daily life, especially if you enjoy walking around. You come away from a stay here with a great appreciation of the Roman lifestyle. The sights of Rome are spectacular but we will always most remember the kindness of the people and the daily flow of life in the neighborhood. Strongly recommend for people wishing to experience what living in Rome is like.
