I used Booking to reserve this hotel very far in advance for a music festival. I checked a few weeks before to make sure everything was correct and realized I put the wrong dates so I canceled the booking and immediately made a new one for the correct dates which was confirmed. I drove 10 hours to get there and arrived late into the evening for the hotel to tell me that the booking was canceled by booking.com. I looked at three different confirmations on my phone, including this app and my email address and all of them said that my booking was current and active. However, the hotel said that it had been canceled by booking.com a few days before. Because there was a huge music festival in town, There were no more available rooms for this hotel or anything else nearby and my only option would be to pay thousands of dollars at one of the hotels that was still available. They said they had a room for just that night that they could give me and I could try to figure it out the next day, but the next day was the festival so I really didn’t wanna have to do that. The front desk guy called the manager named John to see if anything could be done and John explained that he tried to call booking the week before to see what had happened, but they didn’t give him any answers. John hung up and then called back and said that they could clear out a room for us for the original three days that I had booked and give us a discount because of the trouble we had with booking.com. I’m not sure how he was able to clear that room out or if it was being held for someone else but I didn’t ask.
