Room 420 was the nicest room so far with a great view and so spacious. I really appreciate the staff and how helpful they are. My daughter always stays here and we will again. Makes Portland feel not quite as anti-social as its become.

Electric kettle in the room! If you are a tea drinker like me, you know that this is a god-send. There was also a beautiful clawfoot bathtub, a mini-fridge, coffee, and hairdryer. The room was clean and the staff that I met were all friendly and nice. The building itself is beautiful and nicely decorated (though the room itself was sort of sparse). It's near Powell's Books and downtown shopping/attractions. You get a couple tokens to use at the attached coffee shop which is nice.
I feel like this would be a great hotel for someone who arrived via airplane, train, or bus and was getting around Portland via public transportation, but it's not great if you have a car. I also wouldn't recommend it if you have a dog or are traveling with a lot of luggage.
I arrived in a car with 5 bags for myself and my dog (if you travel with a dog, you know that you end up bringing all their possessions). I tried to use their bellhop cart to get my bags to my room but got stuck on the sidewalk because there is just enough of a step up to the door to stop the cart. A couple bystanders ended up helping me lift the entire cart up (smh). All this to say that this hotel is NOT GOOD FOR ANYONE IN A WHEELCHAIR OR WITH MOBILITY ISSUES.
Then it took me a while to find a parking lot that was available at a decent price. I ended up paying $35 per night which was more than I expected.
After all that, my dog refused to go to the bathroom on concrete so we were chasing down little patches of dirt and grass in the middle of a bustling downtown. Now I know. I'm sure if I had arrived by myself with nothing more than a carry-on bag, I would have had a delightful experience.
