Mortimers Cross is a small village best known for the historic battle fought in 1461 during the Wars of the Roses. The village now has a scattering of cottages a shop, a local inn and is home to the English Heritage Mortimers Cross Watermill on the River Lugg. This area is home to the famous Mortimer Trail, a long distance walking route and nearby is the National Trust’s Croft Castle with its medieval fishponds.
