About this cottage rental

Named after Richard de Langetot, the original landowner during the reign of William I, this unique split-level two-bedroom cottage (sleeping 4) is situated within the Grade II listed Stowlangtoft Hall Courtyard.. Lower Ground Floor:

This striking property provides views over the courtyard on one side of the property and has a private balcony with large patio doors overlooking established woodland on the other. Enjoy the tranquillity of this "get away from it all" country retreat. Langetot cottage’ interior is country chic. Guests may enter either from the Courtyard, or directly through the French doors that open south over the large balcony and offer views of established woodland. The spacious ground floor living arrangement comprises a wide entrance hall, with plenty of room for coats and shoes, a bright and airy kitchen/diner/living room with 12 ft ceilings, and a cosy reading area overlooking the gardens. Finally, there is a large twin bedroom and separate toilet. Take three steps down and you enter the lower level of the cottage. Here you will find a well-appointed master bedroom, complete with double bed and a family bathroom, with bath and over-bath shower.

The cottage boasts contemporary luxuries in the form of a Smart TV and Wi-Fi. There is a fully fitted kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave oven and washing machine with the usual appliances. The kitchen balcony leads straight onto the semi-walled mature garden, which is a great space to enjoy evening dinners and drinks. Steps leading from the balcony, lead down onto the communal gardens. There is a hot tub that can be added as an optional extra, and the gardens lead onto a huge open area with children’s play area, football pitch, and stunning views of the Suffolk countryside.

Enjoy walks and cycle rides from the door, with easy access to the neighbouring village shop, restaurants and pubs. You will find local pubs within 2 miles of the estate or an 8-minute drive away. You could take a walk or drive 1 ½ miles to Wyken Vineyards, to browse in their lovely shop, buy some Wyken wine, or sample local produce from the Saturday Farmer’s Market. For children, there are animals in the meadow (including llamas) and a woodland walk (open April-September).

The historic market town of Bury St Edmunds is nearby where you can walk through the beautiful Abbey Gardens, with the remains of the 11th century abbey, plus a lovely playground and ducks a plenty to feed. Explore the market square (market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays) or take a tour round the Greene King Brewery (every day, varying times). Lavenham is a 35-minute drive away, famous for its wealth as a medieval wool town, with over 300 listed buildings and huge church tower - Guide yourself on a fabulous walk of the town and discover the leaning houses and many other treats.
