About this cottage rental
After the drive it was lovely to unpack and head down to the beach with the kids and the dog, returning to the lodge and relaxing with the wood burning stove.. All on the Ground Floor:

Bathroom: Bath With Shower Over, Heated Towel Rail, Toilet. LPG central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot, highchair and fireguard. Welcome pack. Grounds with garden furniture and barbecue (shared with other properties on-site). Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. Named after the skylarks that sing in the fields just beyond the lodge, Skylark Lodge perfectly captures the peaceful charm of its setting. Guests can enjoy stunning sea views across the Solway Firth, as well as distant mountain views that add to the sense of space and tranquillity. It’s an ideal place to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature.
Inside, the lodge is thoughtfully designed with comfort and practicality in mind. The open-plan living space creates a bright and sociable environment, perfect for spending time together. The fully fitted kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, whether you’re preparing a simple breakfast or a full evening meal. The dining area sits conveniently alongside, making it easy to enjoy meals together, while the lounge provides a cosy atmosphere to relax, complete with a wood-burning stove that adds warmth and atmosphere on cooler evenings.
The lodge offers two comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom features a super-king bed, which can also be configured as twin beds to suit different group needs. A second bedroom provides twin beds, making the lodge ideal for couples, friends, or families. The family bathroom includes a bath with an overhead shower, offering flexibility for both quick refreshes and relaxing soaks.
Just minutes from the lodge is Carse Bay, a vast and unspoilt beach perfect for coastal walks, wildlife spotting, and simply enjoying the fresh sea air. The wide shoreline make it a hidden gem along the Solway coast.
The surrounding area offers plenty to explore. The nearby village of Kirkbean provides a glimpse of local life, while Dumfries offers shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. History lovers can visit John Paul Jones Birthplace Museum, located nearby.
