Sleeping two people in one bedroom, it’s the perfect accommodation option for romantic couples seeking a stylish retreat to call home while they discover the beauty of County Durham together. During the day, take a peaceful stroll at Barnard Castle together, and in the evening, come home to indulge in an intimate BBQ dinner for two in the cottage’s pretty private courtyard.
Park your vehicle in your off-street parking and make your way to this beautiful stone barn to begin your romantic getaway. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by an exceptionally elegant, bespoke open-plan living area that’s bathed in natural light and features an impressive high-pitched ceiling. Slip into a sofa in the lounge area and take a moment to soak up the stylish decor before heading to the sleek kitchen area to rustle up your favourite dishes. Enjoy an intimate dinner at the quaint bistro table, or head out into the lovely private courtyard to dine alfresco while you soak up the peaceful country views. After dinner, head back to the lounge area to snuggle up in front of your favourite TV show, and when it’s time for bed, retire to the chic bedroom. In the morning, freshen up in the beautiful en-suite bathroom, which has a bath and a shower, and then kick off your day with a freshly brewed coffee in the courtyard.
Head off on a romantic stroll at Egglestone Abbey (5 miles), which was founded between 1195 and 1198. Alternatively, pack up a picnic and hit the nature trails in Hudswell Woods (14 miles) and you may be lucky enough to spot deer, redpolls and kingfishers.
