Step into this elegant holiday home, with its high vaulted ceilings and whitewashed beams, by taking a step up. The focal point during your stay will be the generous, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which has French windows to the garden and an attractive half-moon window. Spread out in here to relax on the plump sofas. Choose a book from the ladder shelf or find your favourite boxset on the Smart TV. Open the doors to the garden when the weather is fine to bring in a breeze as you prepare homecooked meals then sit down to dine. As day turns to night, amble through to one of your inviting bedrooms. These include a king-size, with zip-and-link beds that can also be arranged as two singles by prior discussion, a king-size and a double. The double bedroom has an accessible, en-suite shower room. There is also a family shower room. Gather round the table out in the fresh air for drinks and meals as often as possible. Play games with the children on the grass. There is private parking for one car, with an extra space available by request.
Venture into York to visit the historic minster and browse in the shops within the narrow streets of the Shambles. Plan a day out to splendid Castle Howard, 15 miles from the cottage, where you can visit the house and explore its exquisite gardens.
