Once the royal capital of the kingdom of Northumbria, Bamburgh is famed for its stunning beach and spell-binding castle. A 15-mile drive away and world-famous for its medieval religious heritage and 16th-century castle, Lindisfarne – also known as Holy Island – can be reached via a paved causeway when the tides permit. Less than 4 miles in the opposite direction, the fishing village of Seahouses has a bustling harbour where boats offer trips to the nearby Farne Islands, a haven for puffins and seals, plus dolphins can often be seen swimming in the surrounding waters.
Behind the beach hut-like exterior of this distinctive Bamburgh abode is a spacious, classically styled holiday home that’s perfect for a large family or group of friends. Within sight of the castle, it boasts a wood burner, fashionable free-standing bath and fantastic play facilities for off-beach fun – no wonder it was once chosen by The Times as one of the ‘50 best cottages, beach houses and rural retreats’! All the accommodation here is on ground level, and the warm welcome begins in the cosy lounge where there’s space for everyone to gather and a wood burner to add a warm glow in the cooler months.
