Location for the Elan Valley is excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate at the pub on one night and the food was very nice and reasonably priced.
I should start by saying that the cost for staying here was very reasonable so my expectation was not huge. However, I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The single Bathroom/WC had seen better days and was shared between 3 rooms which could have been awful had there been full occupancy. The room we stayed in was really small with nowhere to put cases etc and the mattress felt like springs were poking through - I had awful sleep for our duration. In short, Rhayader is a great location for exploring the Elan valley and if you're looking for a cheap place to stay for a night, the Eagles is probably a good bet, however, if you're after comfort for any length or time, it probably won't be for you.
