About this cottage rental
Set over two floors, the ground level is all about relaxed, easy living. An entrance porch leads into the open-plan living room and kitchen, where comfy seating, a TV with DVD and a gas stove (with the look and feel of a wood burner, minus the effort) make things wonderfully cosy on cooler days. A dining table is positioned by the patio doors so you can eat with uninterrupted sea views, while the modern galley-style kitchen has all the mod cons you need for simple self-catering. From here, patio doors open onto a small south-facing terrace and lawn, with a gate and shared steps leading straight down to the sand – morning dips, rock pooling and shoreline walks are quite literally on your doorstep. A well-behaved dog is welcome on the ground floor, making this a great base for beach-loving pups too.
Upstairs, there are two inviting bedrooms sleeping up to four guests. The master bedroom has jaw-dropping sea and beach views, with two single beds pushed together to form a super-king and separate single duvets so you can choose your own comfort level. The second bedroom has a single bed with a pull-out single beneath; given its size, this room works best for one adult or two children. A smart refitted bathroom with bath, overhead shower, WC, wash hand basin, heated towel rail and shaver point completes the first floor. The cottage is licensed for a maximum of four guests; there is a sofa bed in the living room that can be used within that limit, but guests must bring their own bedding or sleeping bag and pillow if they plan to use it.
Outside, the private patio, small lawn and direct beach access make Rockhopper Cottage a superb spot for families, couples on a romantic break, dog walkers and even golfers looking to combine links golf with life on the water. The local pub is just a few hundred yards away serving good, local fare, there’s a handy village shop, and within a short drive you can explore the string of East Neuk fishing villages, each with its own character. St Andrews is around 20 minutes away by car for world-famous golf, coastal walks, historic sights and more places to eat and explore – all with local support from our St Andrews-based team and easy, direct booking.
