Bitonto is a small town just a few kilometres from Bari, but it seems to belong to another dimension, far from the hectic pace of the city. Its historical centre is a fascinating tangle of alleys and squares that tell centuries of history, a labyrinth of narrow streets that open onto hidden corners and stone buildings. Churches, such as the church of San Francesco and the cathedral, with their discreet majesty, seem to watch time go by unhurriedly. Bitonto is a place of tradition and tranquillity, where the echoes of ancient voices still seem to resound within the walls of the buildings.
