Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.
Town: The pretty country village of Probus is set six miles out of Truro and is the perfect touring base for the west of the country, ideally placed for exploring the misty river creeks that lead down to the sea at Falmouth. Several gardens and stately homes are within a radius of ten miles, and the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, with its rocky headlands, quiet coves, pretty fishing villages and safe, sandy beaches, can be reached within ten minutes. If you love the countryside and being close to the sea, sailing and estuaries, this is the place. Attractions such as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are easily reached, and the cathedral city of Truro offers winding lanes, historic buildings and plenty of shops, pubs and eateries.
