Market Street Apartment, Clifden

This apartment on busy Market Street was a total surprise. It's actually above a Vintage clothing shop on the high street so the steep, narrow stairs on entry didn't fill with confidence but once up the stairs the space opened up into a gorgeous, beautifully decorated space. According to the house book the apartment was fully renovated in the early 2000's but it actually felt like everything was brand new. Everything had been thought off and very comfortable. Fully equipped with everything one could need. The extremely pretty private garden, which we thought was at the front of the property on the pics, is actually outside the kitchen at the back - so while the apartment is upstairs at the front, it's ground level at the back. It was also had a barbecue and seating area which would be a great place to have dinner in the summer. The apartment is on busy Market Street so there were masses of restaurants and pubs to chose from but there was also a handy Super Valu supermarket within 5 mins walk - and Aldi & Lidl a short drive away for buying provisions if you wanted to eat in. Also a handy washing machine and dryer artfully hidden behind cupboard doors in the kitchen. The owner was great and contactable by phone should one need him.

Car parking could have been an issue. There's street parking along Market Street which is free between 6pm and 11.30am the following morning. Parking cost is minimal between 11.30 am and 6pm but there is a 3hr limit. Main problem is getting a spot between 11.30am - 3pm when the traffic on Market Street was practically bumper-to-bumper with day-trippers. Another free car park is available a 10 min walk away behind the AIB bank. But if you arrive by city bus the apartment is right across the road. The apartment was practically perfect but bed-side tables hadn't been provided which would have been helpful for placing mobile phones, a book and a morning cuppa.
