Room at the heart of the city!

It was a cool apartment

There were a lot of long, black hair in the toilet when I arrived. It was very much inhabited by the owner, although fortunately she was not home during my stay. The room I slept in was nice, clean and a comfortable bed. When I made the booking, I searched for places to stay that were dog friendly. I immediately booked this place. When I arrived with my little pup, the note on the bedside table stated that pets were not allowed. It was late in the afternoon and I freaked out a bit. Then I checked the listing of booking. Com and it said that pets were allowed here. I sent a message to the owner that I had my dog, and that she's house clean and has her own blanket etc. she never responded to this. So we stayed one night instead of two, left the apartment spotless the next day. Still no reply from the owner...

Very clean and tidy. The bed was very comfortable. The shower pressure was the best!! Cute wee place. Top self of fridge was cleared for me incase I wanted to put anything in there. Instructions easy to follow. Friendly greeting from the host. 10min walk from the train station. Z station across the road.

The location of the property was great for accessing downtown Auckland and the nearby train station. The host was flexible with our check out time if we needed and the place.

The ad was misleading. The ad said that we would have the whole place to ourselves, and after 33 hrs in transit this was kinda important to us. However, this was not made apparent until after the date of the free cancellation which seemed a little unfair. We decided that this would be okay for two nights as we didnt want to loose our payment. Given that the host is also at the apartment I would have expected that our room have a lock, this was not the case, and while she seemed very friendly this is just something basic that gives the guest piece of mind for their belongings while they are out since she was there along with other people at times. We chose to have the door closed for privacy which really impeded the airflow into the room, with the windows open at night into the hallway/coordidor it was impossible to sleep even with ear plugs in. The downstairs neighbours were extremely loud and slammed the doors frequently echoing throughout the corridors at all times of the night into the early morning. Due to the heat, we simply could not close the window as it was way to hot. I would highly recommend the host getting a fan in the room for circulating air. While this was a budget stay, the ad needs to be clearer and the room requires a lock and a fan. The downstairs neighbour could also use a lesson in volume/voice control etiquette in shared apartment buildings for the sake of the other tenants and guests of this apartment.
