About this house rental

Belgian by birth and Burgundian by adoption, Patricia and her son Benjamin welcome you to an authentic, meticulously renovated outbuilding adjacent to their exceptional, characterful 1610 bourgeois residence (also perfectly restored), a remarkable and iconic Burgundian building steeped in history and listed as a Historic Monument (formerly a Protestant temple), nestled in the very heart of the village. A picturesque medieval and wine-growing village brimming with charm, situated on the route of the ancient Roman road, the Via Agrippa, Couches boasts an exceptional heritage (including the sumptuous 13th-century castle of Queen Marguerite of Burgundy, located nearby), numerous amenities, and enjoys a magnificent landscaped setting, nestled in the heart of the gentle, unspoiled wine country, in a bucolic valley blending vineyard slopes, hedged meadows, and beautiful wild forests, within a protected ZNIEFF area. A very comfortable cottage. Spacious and airy. A warm and inviting contemporary style, elegant and refined, enhanced by the character of the place (beautiful exposed beams and original terracotta tiles). A cozy, comfortable, and cocooning atmosphere bathed in gentle serenity. A pleasant, intimate little garden nestled in the shade of century-old trees, a true haven of greenery, complemented by a large, landscaped and flower-filled terrace (overlooking the main street). Layout: Semi-detached village house adjoining the owners' house (completely independent). Access via a small path leading uphill from the parking area. Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Electric heating. Laundry room on the ground floor (accessible from the outside). First-floor apartment (with direct garden access): Living room/kitchen/lounge (double sofa bed 140x200cm), bedroom (two single beds 80x200cm that can be joined to make a double bed 160x200cm), shower room (shower/WC). Private garden and terrace. Garage (3 spaces) + bicycle storage + shared lounge with foosball table at the owners' house. Shops on site, including a small supermarket 200m away. A property steeped in history nestled in the bucolic vineyards of Couchois! An authentic outbuilding, carefully transformed into a very elegant, charming, contemporary-style gîte, adjoining an exceptional, characterful "bourgeois" residence dating from 1610, perfectly restored ("iconic" Burgundian building occupied by the owners), nestled in the heart of the picturesque medieval and commercial town of Couches (home to the sumptuous castle of the Queen of France, Marguerite of Burgundy, dating from the 13th century, located a stone's throw away, or the seven menhirs of Epoigny, one of the most important megalithic sites in Burgundy / numerous amenities on site including a small supermarket). A magnificent landscaped setting surrounds the property, nestled in the heart of the gentle rolling wine country (on a protected area designated as a "Natura 2000 Zone" & ZNIEFF for its rich ecosystems), next to the sumptuous Vallée des Vaux ("the little Switzerland of Chalonnaise") & the famous "Val d'Or" of Mercurey (leader of the Côte Chalonnaise wines, one of the oldest AOCs in France), at the crossroads of the world-renowned vineyards of the Côtes Chalonnaises, the Côtes de Beaune & Hautes Côtes de Beaune, very close to Mont Rome, the highest point in the territory at 546m (a major climbing site & viewpoint renowned for its exceptional view extending from the Saône to the Autunois). An exceptionally privileged location on the Romanesque Churches circuit, the "Route des Grands Vins" (which extends into the renowned "Route des Grands Crus" crossing the legendary wine villages of Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, Meursault, etc.), various marked hiking trails including "balades vertes" (a vast network of similar hiking trails crisscrossing the region, for walking or mountain biking) and the superb GRP "Au Fil des Vignobles et Vallées" (connected to the GR7, GR76 & GR137), 5.5 km from the Green Way along the famous Canal du Centre (a navigable route to discover by boat or on foot) adjacent to the EuroVelo 6 cycle route as well as the "Tour de Bourgogne à Vélo" cycle route), 11 km from the "du Morvan aux Vignobles" Green Way connected to the "Cycloroute71" (Tour de Saône-et-Loire by bike), 11 km of "La Voie des Vignes" (36 km route among the vineyards of the great crus of Burgundy, the most eminent in the world), 17 km of the cycle route "La Voie des Étangs" & 22 km of the renowned mountain bike route of the GTM (Grande Traversée du Massif Sud Bourgogne). An exceptionally privileged location at the crossroads of the Autunois-Morvan region (and its Regional Natural Park) and the Chalonnais region, bordering the Côte d'Or and the Beaune region, ideal for exploring the area: 5.5 km from Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune (river marina), 17 km from Le Creusot (renowned Combes amusement park / Le Creusot TGV train station 19 km away), 13 km from the spa town of Santenay, 13 km from the medieval village of Nolay (with a lake), 17 km from Chagny (famous for its Sunday morning gourmet market), 23 km from Givry, 26 km from Autun (designated a "City of Art and History"), 29 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (designated a "City of Art and History"), 30 km from Beaune, 34 km from the train station.
