By Harbour is a charming holiday cottage nestled in the picturesque village of Birdham, West Sussex. Situated within the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this cottage offers a tranquil retreat just a short distance from the stunning beaches of West Wittering and Bracklesham Bay.
The property features comfortable accommodations ideal for families or small groups seeking a coastal getaway. Guests can enjoy the serene surroundings, explore the nearby sailing village, and take advantage of the local amenities, including a convenience store, post office, and traditional village pub. Birdham Pool, Britain's oldest marina established in 1935, is also within easy reach, offering a glimpse into the area's rich maritime history.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the Salterns Way cycle path passes through Birdham, providing scenic routes to explore the countryside and coastal areas. The fertile ground and warm climate make this region a haven for horticultural activities, with numerous garden centres and nurseries to visit.
The cottage includes a comfortable living room with a TV for relaxing after a day of adventure. There are wine glasses available for enjoying a glass of wine, and high-speed broadband is provided to keep you connected throughout your stay. The fully equipped kitchen offers a kettle, a freezer, a toaster, and a microwave. There's also all the cooking basics and dishes and silverware needed to prepare and enjoy meals. For convenience, the kitchen also features a dishwasher to make clean-up a breeze.
In the open dining area, you'll find the perfect for enjoying meals or simply relaxing looking out onto the large garden. A lovely patio area allows you to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful surroundings while dining or sipping a drink.
The accommodation offers a variety of sleeping arrangements. There is a double bedroom upstairs for a restful night's sleep. A second bedroom features a zip-and-link bed, which can be made up as either a double or single bed, depending on your preference. Additionally, in another room, there is a single bunk bed alongside a single bed, making it ideal for children or groups. The property has a separate WC downstairs for convenience, while a shower and toilet are located upstairs for ease of access.
For added safety and peace of mind, the property includes a carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, and heating to ensure a comfortable and safe stay. Laundry facilities are available with a washer to keep your clothes fresh.

Party size 4 Adults and 2 children (3 &6). Bedrooms - none of the rooms had any hanging space, only chest of drawers. There was one large double bedroom, children’s room with three beds and one other bedroom which was so small could only accommodate one adult and that was tight. There is only one shower bathroom. Separate toilet up stairs. Cloakroom downstairs.
Unfortunately when using the washing machine the filter was blocked making the machine unable to expel the water. Removing the filter flooded the utility room. The dryer - this also had the problem that the filter hadn’t been emptied for so long that the filter was full to overflowing. This was a serious fire hazard. Both filters should be checked regularly.
Having said all that the garden is wonderful and was greatly enjoyed by the children. Plenty of space downstairs with sitting room, dining room and conservatory.
