About this villa rental
Villa Orchidea is a splendid luxury holiday villa for rent, also ideal for organizing weddings, receptions and important events to ensure an exclusive experience to guests.
The villa dates back to the 17th century and is owned by the Posarelli family. The property is divided into two units rented together: the main villa and a small annex for two people. In total, Villa Orchidea can sleep up to 15 people in interiors furnished with taste and equipped with every comfort.
Outside, a large well-kept garden offers a splendid swimming pool and a barbecue area equipped for outdoor dining.
Villa Orchidea is surrounded by the Chianti countryside and is an excellent starting point for visiting the villages of the area, such as Certaldo, San Gimignano and Volterra, as well as the renowned cities of Siena and Florence.
At guest’s disposal: large, fenced and furnished garden (5.500 m2), private swimming pool (12,5 x 6,5 m – maximum depth 2,5 m), shaded furnished porch with an outdoor kitchen and barbecue area: the ideal place where guests can enjoy an al-fresco dinner. Table tennis.
Parking within the grounds. On the premises there is a charming private chapel.
Distances: Sciano with food shop and pizzeria approx. 5,5 km, Barberino Val D’elsa with all kinds of shops and tennis court 6 km, Certaldo approx. 6 km, San Gimignano with its beautiful towers dating back to the medieval period approx. 30 km, Florence about 40 km. Siena and Volterra are in a 45-minute drive.

The property is so beautiful and we loved the pool and the outdoor eating areas. The rooms were beautiful and the bathrooms are all updated and lovely. My only negative comment is that given how expensive the house is we were expecting to have soaps, hand soaps, toilet paper, shower gels, etc. I also suggest ensuring your guests have cleaning supplies in the kitchen and more than 2 dish towels. Additionally, laundry detergent for the laundry room. These seem like pretty basic things. We rent homes and villas when we travel and are accustomed to having these be well stocked wherever we rent. This was the only disappointment.

The villa was as historic as it gets. The views from the backyard were amazing. There was plenty of room for our family holiday of 8 adults. Everyone had their own space and bathrooms were plentiful. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with plates, pots, pans and glassware for all. Communication with the manager of the property was A plus and they even helped us coordinate an amazing birthday dinner on property. On the downside, the property needs a lot of deferred maintenance. We were there during rain storms and three of the rooms and bathrooms had large leaks which made everything in those rooms wet. Also, the humidity was off the charts which did not allow us to wash and dry clothes because nothing can dry in those damp environments. Additionally, it seems the house must have been left open because there were bugs all over inside when we arrived (and we’re from Florida so we know bugs). Also, the weather did not provide much opportunity to enjoy the outdoor spaces and the mosquitoes were off the charts bad. The location was also quite challenging to find so following the written instructions was essential with a minimum 25 - 30 minute drive to most locations of interest. All in all, we had a lovely time together and enjoyed Tuscany as a whole. There is so much beauty.
