About this castle / palace rental

The Castle has views! Wake in the morning to the sunrise views of the lake, have coffee on the veranda, or have breakfast with a view from the dining room. Relax with a book on the daybed with yet another view. The Rock-Ola Jukebox with 100 CDs and amazing sound takes entertaining and family connection to a new level. Enjoy while preparing meals. The foosball and arcade provide another level of fun. Video available upon request. After a day of hiking or skiing, soak in the jetted tub & sip a glass of wine. Pamper yourself with Essential Oils during your stay with the diffusers located throughout the home. AC is available for additional comfort in the summer. For a more natural cooling experience in the evenings, a Quiet Cool system is installed and pulls in the cool evening air while eliminating the warmer air. The Castle sleeps 8 (2870 sf) with 5 sleeping areas described in the listing as Bedrooms 1-4 including a loft. Three bedrooms are on the main floor (no stairs to access). The 4th sleeping space is on the upper level and includes bunk beds, 2 twin floor mattresses, & a Foosball table. On the same level is a full bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and veranda. The living room has a daybed as another option for sleeping. The loft is above the upper level & has a futon & an Arcade with hundreds of games. All levels have panoramic views of the lake. Guests have commented that you have to experience the views in person - the pictures don’t do it justice. The Castle is located at the end of the street at a cul-de-sac. It sits apart from neighbors on either side with just trees on the end. The Tudor House is about a mile away & provides dining & entertainment. About the Area: Lake Arrowhead, Lake Gregory, & Big Bear Lake are recreational lakes in the Southern California San Bernardino mountains. They offer fresh crisp air, cooler weather (10-15 degrees) in the summer, & snow in the winter. They also offer a more relaxed & low-key energy “vibe” making them ideal locations for getaways to renew the mind, spirit, & body & to reconnect with family & friends. We answer frequent questions regarding the lakes & have put together some information below on what makes each location unique so it is easier to match with your specific goals for your time away. Upon booking one of our properties, you will receive more detailed information on how you can spend your time in the area. Big Bear Lake is a public lake and friendly to all types of boats & water sports & is the largest lake of the three. There is a short paved bike & walking trail that goes along the lake. Big Bear is a City & is more populated with stores, restaurants, & nightlife than the other two locations. It has more of a “desert” feel in terms of its topography. Big Bear is 26 miles up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead, Although none of our properties are in Big Bear, we recommend it for a day trip. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake & is accessible to guests staying at properties with lake rights if the owners have permitted for guests to use their ALA (Arrowhead Lake Association) passes. If this is the case, the Amenity “lake access” will be checked on the listing. In our list of properties, the Gingerbread Cottage is providing lake access. With lake access, specifically, the lake trail is accessible. There is a $10 per person per day fee that is required to be paid to receive a wristband for access. More information can be found on the ALA website. Swimming is allowed from the lake trail at any location except the beach clubs (these are restricted to owners). There is no ability to launch boats or SUPs on the lake. The Village is lakefront & is the main area for shops & restaurants & has a fitness center as well. The Queen boat is a tour boat on Lake Arrowhead that provides much of the history of the town - tickets can be purchased at the shop by the lake. There is a local company that offers water skiing lessons boat tours & rentals. This area has more of a small town & alpine feel to it. The Villas area (south side of the lake) in Lake Arrowhead is cooler & gets more snow that lasts longer than the north side of the lake which gets more sun in the winter & is hotter in the summer. The Villas area is an older area with older homes & narrower streets. The Tudor House is an event center offering Sunday brunch & a variety of events. Skypark is a local attraction as well as Snow Valley for skiing for both Lake Arrowhead & Lake Gregory. Lake Arrowhead is 15 minutes up the mountain from Lake Gregory. Lake Gregory is a public lake in the town of Crestline, a small town about 20 minutes from the base of the mountain of San Bernardino. It is the closest mountain town to events & locations “down the hill”. In the past few years, the lake operations have become privately managed with significant improvements being done at the lake including the development of a water park, beach improvements, & boat, kayak, & canoe rentals. There is a fee to access the beach area & the water park & no fee to access the 2 1/2 mile trail around the lake. Fishing is allowed & more info can be found on the Lake Gregory website. Crestline has a small-town alpine feel with the lake nestled amongst the tall trees. Crestline gets less snow than the other 2 lake locations. The quaint town has restaurants, coffee shops, & thrift stores. Twin Peaks/Blue Jay sits in between Crestline & Lake Arrowhead & is convenient to both lakes. It has its restaurants, shops, & thrift stores. It is famous for its outdoor farmer’s market on Thursday afternoons (seasonal).
To make this property affordable and reasonable for small groups there is an extra guest fee of $15 per person after 2 people.

A BBQ is provided at the house, however, please be aware that we do not refill propane. We will reimburse you if you need to fill the propane. If you will arrive late, local stores may be closed or if it`s a holiday may run out of propane so it is advised to bring your own propane tank. if you plan to use the BBQ on the day of arrival.

Age minimum is 25 (families with kids welcome).

Parking is for 3 cars or 4 small cars; there is EV charging capability with a NEMA-14 outlet - you will need to bring your own cable.

The 4th bedroom (bunkbed/game room) is open to rest of the living space (no door) and has a closet.

For 28+ night stays, please inquire first (not instant book); the following deposits apply:
- Refundable damage deposit is $100
- Refundable cleaning deposit is $350
- the cleaning fee is $290. The difference between this fee and the initial cleaning fee paid upon booking will be collected along with the deposits before check-in.

Immediately after booking you will receive our short rental agreement to review and accept.

For your convenience in cleaning up any messes or spills we provide handiwipes and bar rags as an eco-friendly alternative to paper towels. We also provide Swedish dish cloths instead of sponges. There is a sign in the house explaining the benefits, however if you prefer paper towels or sponges during your stay feel free to bring them. We want to prepare you the best we can for an exceptional stay with us.

This property is fantastic! Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lots of amenities and attention to detail are easily noted. The kitchen is well stocked, however the refrigerator is very loud and intrudes on the serenity. I am sure in time it will be replaced. The views are out of this world! The photos cannot capture the glorious lake and lanscape. I would have given 5 stars for every category and our experience, however there are a few things I must make mention of. I want to be clear that I would absolutely book this rental again in the future. This list is for more transparency and fair warning for anyone considering this property.***This home is divided into 2 units. The property description should emphasize this boldy and more clearly. We thought someone was in the house, as we could hear noises and footsteps at night and banging noises from time to time. We missed the small mention about the 2nd unit, or we would not have been as scared thinking someone was in the hall and upstairs. We also experienced lights and the TV on (we never turned it on) when we woke up that were off when we went to bed. I contacted our host after the first night, and after a lengthy and very apologetic delay I was informed of the other unit and assured we were safe and the other guests had no access to our unit. The other happenings were addressed with reasonable explanations. Book the rental! Expect that noises are possible. Relax and enjoy your stay!

This property is beautiful and so well appointed. The beds are comfortable. There is plenty of tableware and cutlery. the view is spectacular! Super fun touches of the juke box and the video games. On top of that, communication with the hosts was A Some things future renters should know... of note this is ALL in the house manual, but if you don't read it before you get there, you could get surprised.1)They don't supply propane and there may or may not be some left for you from a previous guest, so plan to get some if you want to use the grill2) The garage door code did not work for us. There is a work around - come into the house and open the garage door from the inside. It is not a deal breaker, at all, it just would have been nice if it had been working.

Property had great views and purported to be luxury home but was at best a tired worn Luxury home Management presented an onerous 6 page "blanket" rental agreement with unreasonable or non applicable restrictions and provisions. To my dismay and not disclosure the property was shared with others in a lower basement unit We were surcharged for New Years stay which was expected but extra 15 fee for each additional guest was a bit excessive, and Management wanted an extra 20 to check in an hour early. At check in the pass codes to open doors didn't work and we had to than use the back up lock box key Some of the featured comforts where hard to figure out how to use like the gas fireplace, BBQ and the jacuzzi . The juke box was a nice touch but really didn't work right .There was no instruction manual or binder to describe the equipment or systems in the home -finally the the bed sheets where stained with cosmetics and other foreign material. We couldn't find any extra sheets or pillow cases. I would up load here but this review does not have this capability ? With some TLC and better orientation our stay could have been much better
