Some Edisto Island vacation rentals have a water view. Whitmarsh is the water. Positioned at the edge of deep tidal creeks with an unobstructed 180-degree coastline panorama, this six-bedroom retreat delivers the kind of setting most people only see on a screensaver.
This is a house for people who came to Edisto to actually disappear. No resort amenities, no pool scene, no neighbors borrowing your parking spot. What you get instead: your own private dock on deep water and direct access to some of the most untouched barrier island coastline on the East Coast.
On land, Botany Bay Plantation Wildlife Management Area is a short drive from the front door, making Whitmarsh a legitimate basecamp for birders, photographers, kayakers, and anyone who would rather spend the day exploring a pristine ACE Basin shoreline than fighting beach traffic.
Inside, the interiors are bright, spacious, and built for a group that came to gather. The kitchen is stocked with ample appliances, and the full-house reverse osmosis system means the water coming out of every tap is clean, filtered, and noticeably good. Multiple wraparound decks let different members of your group decompress at their own pace, all with those sweeping tidal views as the backdrop. When the day winds down, WiFi and TV service are there for the nights you want them. Movie nights, the big game, or just a good excuse to stay in your pajamas.
And for those moments when the group is ready to venture out, Edisto Beach's shops, restaurants, and golf course are just five miles away, close enough for a dinner run or a morning tee time, far enough that you'll never feel like you're in the middle of it.

This house has so much sleeping space. Perfect for our family and a couple of our kids friends. The dock is amazing. We brought kayaks and fished and swam for hours a day. We also kayaked to the beach and found amazing shells. We had to contact the property manager when the fridge stopped working but the brought a new one out. The ONLY thing I could say needs improvement is the older AC units. This had to be repaired while we were there but the bottom bedrooms remained fairly warm. That being said we would still book this every year. Hard to find a property like this anywhere!

The house is very clean. Even though the house had carpet it was immaculate. I couldn’t believe how clean the carpets were. We enjoyed the nice fishing/crabbing dock. According to our children we had the most comfortable bed on the second floor because it had a good 3-4 inch topper so they may need to do that for the other beds in house. It was a short drive to the beach and public access wasn’t bad at all. We have a handicap grandchild(14) and the fire department had plenty of beach wheelchairs for donation only! Super nice. Would highly recommend if you have a large group(we had 14).
