Welcome to The Southern Buffalo! Tucked away on a quiet street in Beech Mountain, this charming chalet is the perfect mountain retreat for up to 10 guests. Located just five minutes from Beech Mountain Resort, you'll have easy access to world-class skiing, hiking, biking, and the quaint shops and restaurants in this scenic town.
Cozy Mountain Living
Step inside to discover a warm and inviting atmosphere, starting with a cozy, well-appointed kitchen featuring warm cabinetry and all the essentials to make you feel right at home. At the heart of the family room, a striking stone fireplace invites you to unwind after a day of adventure. Mounted above is Billy the Buffalo, who keeps watch over the cozy space, adding a touch of rustic charm to your mountain getaway.
The main level also includes three comfortable bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a laundry room for added convenience. Two of the bedrooms feature sliding glass doors, allowing you to wake up to serene backyard views and step outside to enjoy the crisp mountain air.
Outdoor Bliss
Step onto the spacious deck to discover your private oasis. Whether you're soaking in the brand-new hot tub, grilling a feast on the propane grill, or relaxing in Adirondack chairs, this is the perfect place to take in the breathtaking scenery.
- Winter Views: Admire the twinkling ski-lift lights visible from the deck at night.
- Fall Foliage: Sip on a pumpkin ale and watch the leaves burst into vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows.
- Summer Serenity: Feel like you're perched in a treehouse, surrounded by lush greenery, with average highs of just 71°F from June through August.
- Wildlife Watching: Keep an eye out for friendly neighborhood deer, often seen grazing below the deck year-round.
Loft Fun & Local Adventures
Upstairs, the open loft provides an ideal space for kids and extra guests, featuring four twin beds and a third bathroom. Adventure awaits beyond the chalet:
- Banner Elk (15 min): Enjoy alpine coasters, tubing, and family-friendly fun.
- Boone & Blowing Rock (Under 45 min): Explore charming boutiques, fantastic restaurants, and Appalachian State football games.
Two dogs are welcome with an additional pet fee. Guests can log in to their personal streaming accounts or access the many free applications loaded onto the smart TV. During the winter months (October–March), we strongly recommend using a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle, as chains may be necessary during snow or icy conditions. Please note that there is a Ring camera at the front entrance.

We enjoyed our stay. Gorgeous views and quiet community. We were delighted to be able to bring our fur babies to relax and appreciate all of the beauty. The house was perfect for our family’s needs. The location is close to everything! We visited the Wooly worm festival and Elk Mt riding Co for an amazing horseback riding experience. Thank you for sharing your home !
