The Knavesmire Mews is a modern newly renovated property which is very spacious consisting of three bedrooms all which have king beds. This is three story house located on a quiet street comfortably sleeping upto 6 guests, just 0.6 miles from York racecourse.
Walking distance into York taking you through Bishopthorpe Road .This little street is surrounded with quirky shops, quality restaurants, and busy bars. In recent years it was voted the Best High Street in Britain. While being located just outside the city centre it is only a 20 minute walk in York and all of York’s world famous attractions are within easy walking distance.
The ground floor comprises of a fully equipped kitchen with a kettle, toaster, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, 4 ring gas hob and electric cooker oven, fridge freezer and a dolce gusto coffee machine There is also a stylish living room with a 50 inch smart TV and separate downstairs toilet. The First floor has a main bathroom and 2 spacious bedrooms both with king size beds and finally the second floor has a large bedroom with a king size bed and en-suite bathroom.

We stayed in York for two nights as our son was running the marathon. Knavesmire Mews was a reasonably central location and a twenty minute walk to the centre. It was a decent size for four adults with a room each and one bedroom with an en-suite, however we did not spend much time relaxing in the house as it was a busy weekend. It was clean and tidy although there was a lingering smell of fried food in the kitchen.
There were a few small issues however. I understand that it is self catering and doesn’t have to supply any consumables, however, we had a 5+ hour journey and a small bottle of milk in the fridge would have been most welcome on arrival late on Friday but there was nothing apart from some teabags and instant coffee. Having stayed in many similar places this is unusual. Also there were no hooks anywhere to hang coats - not even in the bedrooms. This would have been really useful. There was also no towel in the downstairs toilet or the kitchen. There was a tea towel in the kitchen but that was all. There were towels in the bedrooms but these were for personal use. These few small things would have made a difference to our stay and although it may seem picky, it would have helped to make our visit smoother. Apart from these points it was a good place to stay.

Good points of the property:
• Location for racecourse and city centre
• Generous sized rooms
• Amenities within the property are good.
• 3 toilets
Negatives
• Ground floor windows are sash windows so for security reasons need to keep them closed whilst you are out or asleep leaving the property very hot
• Hot water is on a switch and not made clear in the information provided, so spent a little while trying to figure this out
• House is very very warm, and if you are staying on the top floor it gets like a sauna
• Interior is a little dated.
• No dining area
• Only get one key, which means if one member of the party comes back early they need to wait up to let every one in – due to needing the key to lock the door from the inside.
• Cleaners are waiting for you to leave at 10.01am, which meant we got charged extra
