About this house rental
Villa Oraia is a charming old stone village house in the village of Kefalas, on the Apokoronas peninsula. Bright and spacious, this stylish house has been tastefully restored in a traditional Cretan style.
The house is nestled in the centre of the village, surrounded by other whitewashed stone houses. It is 10 minutes drive from the beautiful Apokoronas beaches of Almyrida and Kalyves. The village of Kefalas is very quiet and tranquil but has two lovely tavernas and a mini market. It is a wonderful base for summer holidays near to the sea and also for exploring the historic town of Chania, about 30 minutes drive away. The stunning coastline and charming surrounding towns and villages offer a wide range of things to see and do throughout the year.
The house has three bedrooms and is furnished in a simple rustic Greek style, offering a charming and tranquil base during your stay on this beautiful island. The layout is spacious and has an open-plan feel.
Living area: there is a large living room with TV (English channels) and DVD player. The wood burning stove provides extra heat in the winter. The living room leads through a large stone arch to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped and has an electric oven with a ceramic hob and fridge freezer. There are large doors from the kitchen and dining area that open onto a sunny seating area and garden. To the rear there are doors to a shady courtyard with a table and chairs, perfect for a leisurely breakfast.
Bedrooms: Each of the three bedrooms (two double and one twin) has been simply and thoughtfully decorated in keeping with the traditional feel of the rest of the house. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, which share a shower room. The master bedroom is upstairs and has a super king sized bed. There is further double bedroom with a king-sized bed and a small private balcony. There is also a small utility area with a washing machine and access to a large roof terrace that wraps around the rear of the building. Downstairs there is a bathroom with an en suite bathroom and shower.
Garden: At the front of the house, the Mediterranean garden is sunny and secluded and has a lovely private swimming pool (3m x 5m). There is a shady courtyard with a further seating area to the rear of the house. There is also a large roof terrace with views over the White Mountains.
There is s small parking area at the house and also parking on the road outside the house on a quiet village road.

We had an amazing two weeks at Villa Oriai. The house is stunning and suited our family perfectly. The village is beautiful and everyone is very friendly. The two tavernas had lovely food and were always busy with a great atmosphere. Our favourite was in the square, which also does takeaway. A car is essential, we didn’t have one and the taxis were very expensive to get anywhere. The two shops had everything we needed but if we had a car we would have shopped in a larger supermarket to
save a bit of money. One suggestion would be to have plastic glassware for the garden.
If you are looking for a quiet place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of tourists then this is the perfect house. We had the most relaxing holiday in a gorgeous house. Thank you both

We stayed here for our wedding in Chania, i feel in love with the villa and its quirky/rustic style. A perfect mix of english and Greek, beds comfortable and my favourite thing was waking up and sitting in the garden,court yard or balony with coffee. My two boys love the pool and the 'sercet passage way' as tgey called it as the villa has a private court yard/exit. Hosts were lovely. The area is so quiet and peaceful. I was so sad to leave and will be back again for an anniversary.

Nydelig hus, koselig hage. Vi var 6 voksne , og forventet utifra omtalen 3 soverom m aircondition. Detbviste seg at ett av rommene var uten aircondition og vifte. Man måtte også gå gjennom ett av de andre soverommene for å komme til bad og toalett. Synes dette dro ned opplevelsen for vår del. Litt langt til OK strand. Ellers hyggelig landsby med svært god taverna, nabolandsbyen Vamos kan anbefales.
