This house gives you the best view and location in the area. This is our private lake home. No expense spared. It’s fully stocked, totally tricked out, and all about comfort. Easy getaway from Chicago (2hr)/ Indy (1.5hr). Impressive views for huge Lake Shafer lot with more than one dock area. This house was custom designed to accommodate a large group vacation in comfort. LIVING ROOM – The gathering place for your group. High ceilings, huge windows, panoramic views.
• Open Kitchen with huge dining table that will fit 10 people - Stainless steel appliances - Fully stocked with chef quality tools - Dishwasher - Garbage Disposal
• After dining make yourself comfortable on living room sofa and watch Netflix on 65” 4K smart tv or anything you like that smart tv offers . Another living room area with smart TV located downstairs. One more TV in main bedroom.

OUTSIDE: The house sits on hill facing lake front lot with the 3 level wooden deck around. It provides both sun and shade, sunrise and sunsets. You’ll never forget campfires on Lake Shafer .
• Boating- on property with plenty of space to dock your boat - Public boat launch within minutes of Piper House - Lake Shafer Boat Rental is walkable for renting ski boats, pontoons, jet skis - Fun place for kayaks. Bring them and explore around the Amusement Park on the water.
• Swimming & Fishing- on property - Located in peaceful no wake zone - Dock has ladder for easy in/out of lake. Bring inflatables. - Some of the best fishing in Indiana right off of our dock. - Or walk down the hill to enjoy the Water Park at Indiana . Note: Lake Shafer isn’t a sand bottom lake so there are no natural beaches here. There is a rock retaining wall at the waters edge.
• Golfing – 5 minute drive - Tippecanoe Country Club is a beautiful course on the lake, open to the public. - Pineview Golf Course is a budget friendly option
• Drive In Movie Theater – 5 minute drive. A classic summer activity and one of the last of it’s kind.
• Winery- 15 minute drive. Whyte Horse Winery is so fun with a group for a tasting in their charming farm house with front porch.
• Horseback Riding – 30 minute drive. Crooked Creek Trails is a fun way to see the beautiful Indiana countryside.
• Canoe Trip- 25 minute drive. Hodges Canoe Trips is a favorite of ours.

It was a very relaxing and quiet stay overlooking the lake. Really enjoyed seeing all the geese and other birds early in the mornings when they began talking off. I’m sure the experience during the summer would be much different than our stay over Thanksgiving week, but then all the possible water activities and the near by amusement park become available.

The house was spacious and lovely with a wonderful view of the lake. Location was easy to find and parking was ample. The bedrooms were good size and the bathrooms were comfortable. The kitchen, dining area and great room were very convenient and comfortable. The two decks and lakefront were excellent. I needed a spacious five bedroom rental and this was about perfect.

Family enjoyed our stay at this lake home. There was plenty of space and sleeping quarters. The house was very clean inside, would recommend outdoor furniture and spaces be cleaned up a bit before guests arrive, debris, leaves, spider webs, and bird droppings. I would reccomend this vacation home, beautiful views.

We expected a civilized home stay for the cost of this listing. However, it was more accurately a "camping out" experience so we feel this listing is overpriced. Reasons follow:
- Home is at the end of a long gravel driveway with 10mph speed limit; local neighbors actively engage guests when speed exceeded
- Excessive bugs/nests at home entrances, making entry uncomfortable, as well as spiders inside the house
- The tap water had an extremely foul smell like sulphur or rotten eggs, especially when showering; necessary to buy bottled water for whole stay, even for brushing teeth
- Kitchen counter extremely sticky and no spare paper supplies provided
Owner was pleasant to work with but falls well short of disclosing the extremity of the home's limitations. However, with minimal effort much of it can be overcome. Some examples include a) perform sufficient cleaning, b) provide modest spare supplies and c) install point of use or whole home filtered water. Either that or bring the listing price down to something more sensible.
