Finest Retreats - The Boat House

Lovely comfortable place, good quality furniture, some nice paintings on the wall - feels like home. All the essentials supplied and more. A few minutes walk into town or down to the sea, or in one minute you can be in the Crescent Gardens area watching the sea on a bench or visiting the cafe.

No views from the property but we knew that and it's reflected in the price. Still, plenty of light thanks to patio doors and a small outdoor area with table and chairs. A bit of a climb is needed to get from the sea to the level of the shops and this property - something to think about if you're visiting Filey with elderly or less mobile people.

Liked the Location and the house.

We left a favourite kitchen item in the House by mistake. We wrote an e-mail the same day we left and never heard back.

Stand carpets, stained dining chairs. Obviously previous guests hadn't washed crockery properly as it was greasy and had to be washed before use. Floor in hall kitchen and living space not particularly clean.too big a step up to the property.

Great location, the place was comfortable and quiet. Nice place to hang out and use as a base to explore from. Modern, well equipped.

The comms were a bit passive aggressive imho. Loads of reminders about filling out onerous forms, (which I didn’t fill in the end) with personal details such as date of birth to each guest (not even required as part of the hotels act) , agreeing to long winded terms that demanded more than the ‘two minutes’ they claimed it would take to complete. The tone of voice from a lot of the laminated instructional felt a bit schoolmasterly. Then at 7am on the Sunday morning I get a “polite reminder” text message that we needed to check out by 10am was a bit of a rude awakening and a bit intrusive and unnecessary for my liking.
