Beech Meadow-Home from Home Luxury Holiday Cottage

1) Fabulous, fabulous location and view; quiet 2) Nice big, well-appointed kitchen with room for a couple people to work at the same time 3) Dishwasher, nice toaster, two ovens one with microwave, big fridge freezer, washer and dryer with clothes drying rack, fancy iron, nice fireplace, big screen tv, big comfortable sofas, enough seating around dining table and convenient to kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms each with shower 4) Wonderful luxury soap, shampoo, lotion 5) Extremely clean bathrooms and showers, no sign of water leakage through the doors 6) Very close to town and shops without being right in village, nice walk to village and over Devil's Bridge 7) Outdoor seating area for nice days 8) Five minute drive to our three days of dancing near Casterton 9) Close to Lake District attractions

1) The key box was too low down and one had to get way down or lie down to see the numbers. The buttons needed to be pushed firmly until the click was felt, otherwise it wouldn't work. If the numbers weren't correctly registered because of a missed click, it wasn't clear how to reset the code to start over again. To close the box, there was no instruction to turn the knob counterclockwise. 2) The first pot that we tried to use (without a wavy lip edge) turned out not to be suitable for induction stoves. We tried for half an hour to bring water to a boil to cook our dinner before realizing that it was the pot not the stove that was the problem. 3) Needed to read the instructions to work the microwave/convection oven. 4) In the topmost bedroom the wind howled at night when it was stormy. 5) The middle bedroom could get quite warm if one didn't realize how to turn off the radiator, plus heat from the living area rose up to heat the middle bedroom even more. 6) However the bottom floor bedroom was cold and had no radiator 7) Water pressure from kitchen faucet is a bit fierce 8) The windows were very difficult to close because of almost concealed catches

The house is beautifully furnished, decorated and very modern. The shower gel etc (from a local shop) are really nice. Location is quiet and peaceful. We all enjoyed the views over fields which had lambs and rabbits (Easter visit - delighted grandchildren). Well equipped kitchen - unusually good - found everything we needed - especially after locating the cutlery drawer - tucked away in another drawer in the kitchen! Really helpful host - Michelle - warm and friendly.

As you can tell from the comment about the cutlery drawer - not totally up to speed with very modern kitchen - and took some trial and error with the hob and cooker. But they worked great once we cracked it. And Michelle didn't even mock when I phoned about the cutlery.......

Lovely, stylish, comfortable accommodation. Stunning views from the windows. The owner responded immediately to any phone queries.

Everything was wonderful. The only niggle was that it would help to have a quick simplified guide to the heating. We accidentally turned it off!Quickly remedied by a phone call though.
