I am always a bit nervous about booking from a private landlord online but the host was extremely responsive to my phone calls and text messages. I phoned shortly after booking with a few questions and he answered immediately and was very helpful - in particular he was open to an early check in if the property was empty the night before so didn't need cleaning that day. Then I phoned a few days before checking in and he wasn't able to answer but sent a text message, and has been quick to respond all along.
From other reviews, I have seen that some people were unhappy with the speed of the return of the damage deposit (or the cancellation of the card transaction), but I found that the host was quick to respond about this too and took action immediately when it didn't seem to have been cancelled a couple of days after check out.
I was meeting family there for a weekend (coming from different directions) and would definitely book this house again if we do the same again. The house itself was about perfect for what we needed - clean, comfortable enough, and with a big enough lounge and dining room/kitchen for everyone to sit and eat together and for kids to play.
The house is well situated for takeaways, a pub for Sunday lunch, a swimming pool, and Blaise Castle estate for a walk around with the kids, and not far from Cribbs Causeway for shopping if that's what you need.
There wasn't enough cutlery in the drawer when we got there, but I messaged the landlord about this and he said that if I bought some then he would reimburse. I found some cutlery in a local hardware and the reimbursement was in my account within about an hour of asking.
The kitchen was a bit sparsely equipped in other areas (e.g. only one chopping board) but we weren't intending to cook that much and to be honest if we were I suspect the host would have been helpful here too.
It's also true (from other reviews I think) that there wasn't really enough toilet roll, but it's really not hard to buy some.
