Grand Hostel Ivalo

I spented two exceptional and unforgettable days of relaxation here in Grand Hostel. The owner Erkki is very friendly and kindly, always ready to forgive to you all the information that you need, I also thank him very much for providing me with an upgrade of the booking by reserving me a comfortable single room so silence. The place it was an old school for learn to work and retains the splendid charm of the time, all the rooms were very clean, in my same third floor it was present a kitchen, a play room with many games and tv and separate toilets and showers. On the first floor there is a porridge room very welcoming and where you can tasted an excellent porridge. It's also present a pretty sauna downstairs really great and an elevator very spacious. The bus station it's very near and easy to found in front of the church, you can also reach easily supermarket, restaurant, Ivalo Beach and other beautiful paths around the lake. In conclusive If you are looking for total relax with long walkingin a wonderful place where the time is stopped here is the perfect choice and I very reccomented with all my heart. I hope absolutely to return early...kiitos Erkki!!

I absolutely loved it here and truly enjoyed my one-week stay. It was so relaxing and peaceful. One of the best things is that you can even see the aurora (FREE) from the backyard if you don’t want to tolerate the freezing cold for too long. The most amazing experience was being able to walk just 10 minutes and stand in the middle of the frozen river to watch the aurora(FREE). At that moment, you feel like the king — the aurora shining just for you. It was simply magnificent and unforgettable! I stood outside for 2 hours and 30 minutes in -18°C weather, and it was totally worth it. Just remember to wear proper warm clothes and thick socks! Erik is amazing — so friendly and welcoming. He makes delicious porridge, and during my stay, I celebrated my birthday there. We sang a birthday song together, enjoyed a Finnish princess cake, and he even gave me a birthday present, which was such a thoughtful surprise. He also kindly lent me his snowshoes so I could explore the forest and frozen river. This place gave me unforgettable memories, and I will definitely be back again!
