Villa Maryvon

The villa is spacious well equipped fantastically situated and really comfortable – we found it excellent in every way. We had everything we needed - and lots more. The standards of all facilities are high. There is a dedicated laundry, and study. wifi was good. outside, We parked on the quiet cul be sac, or on the drive.The house is peaceful and private , but only a moment’s short easy walk to Auray centre. Auray is a charming well established town., with plenty of alluring shops, and good places to eat., from a Michelin recognised restaurant (5 min stroll from Maryvon) ,to town centre restaurants with terraces, serving delicious fish and meat. There is a tidal harbour a short walk away. A wealth of lovely beaches are an easy drive from the villa.

Spacious house in nice neighborhood, well located to local attractions. Comfortable and well appointed, however some of the appliances are quite dated.

Hosts could be more generous with some basic amenities such as toilet paper, garbage bags, etc. Too many old kitchen appliances which are unlikely to be used by guests. The towels had a musty smell and needed to be washed again.

Location was excellent, which was why we chose it. It's a large house with some good spaces and bedrooms.

Found the handovers not good - key safe would have worked better. We arrived a bit early, lady meeting us arrived very flustered saying we shouldn't have been there til 25 mins later. She then proceeded to try to clear up bits from floor, open shutters to air house and then get towels for us. There was washing in the washing machine and laundry which she had to clear. After she left we discovered mouldy cutlery in the dishwasher so had to run it on a hot cycle - fortunately i had brought tablets. We had advised there was a baby but had to ask for cot and high chair. High chair ancient, dirty and not that safe - you can buy one at Ikea for peanuts. Whole house smelled- thought either cigarette smoke or just shut up for too long. Very hot during our time there, but no fans or aircon in the house. Upon request the handover lady brought us a small fan which we used to help the baby. No bath so we had to buy a paddling pool for the baby to bath in. The en-suites do not have toilets in them, so that was inconvenient. Garden very weedy and overgrown, not mowed for a long time. couldn't let the baby go on grass. White chairs covered in bird mess and very dirty. Kitchen - new china and lots of old serving dishes, but lacked some of the basics for a holiday. We don't need a full mixer and pressure cooker - this took up lots of space where you might put ones foodstuff. Couldn't find a simple baking tray for the over. English instructions for cooker non existent- worked it out in the end. Appliances all seemed quite complicated, haven't had this problem before. Laundry room upstairs, no airer outside. Couldn't get dryer working. On leaving we advised time of departure but the handover lady did not arrive, after 20 mins waiting we had to leave as ferry to catch. Compared to our previous rental the week before in the Loire, which included a hot tub, it was double the price and not half as good. One seems to be paying for the location.
