The location was superb, at the centre of the old town and within easy reach of bistros, museums and other sights. The flat was comfortable, spacious, light, and easy to heat.
On our arrival, the keybox was empty, which was a shock. Sophie from the Hôte des Alpes promptly and efficiently sorted this out, providing us with a substitute key. It seems that the electrician who had been at work in the living room still had the keys, hoping to return next day to collect his tools.
We found we had one bath-towel each, one hand towel between us, and a single tea-towel. We therefore assumed that these and the sheets would be changed after seven days, and that whoever did so would do the cleaning, since we had no access to cleaning tools or materials apart from a vacuum-cleaner. On asking by email when the cleaners would arrive, we were told that the property was not serviced like a hotel room, so we would have to do our own washing and cleaning. We were not against this in principle, but a) it hadn't been made clear to us beforehand, and b) we had no means of mopping the floor, etc.
On reflection, maybe there were a mop and bucket in the locked cupboard downstairs that we had no key to (perhaps that was on the missing keyring?) but there were definitely no spare towels or bed linen anywhere in the flat. So our original allocation had to last us two weeks. This was inconvenient, but did not spoil our enjoyment.

The place was nice and spacious, but the location was very difficult to find. If I had not arranged to meet someone to pick up the keys, I would not have been able to reach the property, as it is located deep inside a very dark alley.
The room had many facilities, but there is still room for improvement. It would be worth investing in a clothes dryer. The hot water worked well, and showering was comfortable.
However, there were several policies that did not make sense. A room deposit was required, which I have never encountered when booking through Booking.com. There was also a cleaning fee, yet guests were still required to clean the room themselves, remove the bed sheets, and take out the trash. It is unclear why an additional cleaning fee is charged when guests must do all of these tasks.
In addition, guests have to pay extra to arrange a meeting for key handover, and at checkout the key must be returned to a specific location. This process is inconvenient. A digital lock with an access code would be much simpler and is commonly used by other properties.
Lastly, only one roll of toilet paper was provided for the entire stay, which was not sufficient and required guests to buy more themselves.
