The nearby pub was fully booked for dinner. Not the owners’ fault at all and we enjoyed excellent fish and chips instead.

Lucy and Dave were warm, personable hosts who communicated clearly and consistently throughout my stay, especially as I was arriving late. Despite the time, the welcome was enthusiastic yet perfectly judged—friendly without being overwhelming—allowing me to settle in quickly and get a good night’s rest. Their pre-arrival communication made all the difference, with clear directions and parking information that ensured I could find the house easily, even along dark country roads. On arrival, the property itself was immediately impressive. The house is truly spectacular, and my room far exceeded expectations—spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, blending classic character with modern comfort. Every detail felt carefully considered, from the décor to the overall atmosphere. Cleanliness was outstanding throughout, particularly in the bedroom and bathroom. A thoughtful selection of toiletries was provided in case anything had been forgotten, and small touches like fresh milk, juice, and bottled water were perfect for my two-night stay. As I was tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks with an early start, I didn’t make use of the continental breakfast, though it sounded excellent and well thought out. After a long day, I returned later than planned and hoped to find somewhere to eat in Gargrave. Lucy kindly walked into the village to check options and let me know that most places stopped serving food around 20:30, but also pointed out an award-winning curry restaurant open later. In the end, I opted for a very reasonably priced pint of ale, which hit the spot. The location worked brilliantly for my plans—just a 30-minute drive to the start of the Three Peaks and about 10 minutes to Skipton for more dining options. I really loved the setting: peaceful and rural, yet with a welcoming village feel. After a long day of walking, the hot shower and incredibly comfortable, soft bed were exactly what I needed. Lovely comfortable overnight stay during our Pennine Way trek. Lucy and Dave were so welcoming, friendly and helpful, and the house is beautiful. Really appreciate the comfort and little touches like the huge choice of teas and extra toiletries. The room was super comfortable and the village is lovely to stroll around with loads of choice for food. Would recommend to anyone.
