La Foresterie is a beautifully renovated stone farmhouse, built on the edge of a vast forest within 2.5 hectares of land. It also features a small natural campsite with facilities (3 pitches + 1 converted caravan) offering breathtaking views: the village church steeple of Echandelys in the foreground, and the Chaîne des Puys volcanoes in the distance 🌋.
The house is located in a very peaceful hamlet just 800 meters from Echandelys, in the Livradois Forez region of Auvergne. This large, comfortable home with vintage decor is ideally situated in central France—the dream gathering spot for family reunions or get-togethers with friends all year round.
The House Layout:
Ground Floor:
🍽️ Kitchen: A very bright, south-facing kitchen that opens directly onto the outdoor terrace through large sliding glass doors. It is fully equipped for groups: a huge fridge, a very large oven, plenty of crockery, large Dutch ovens, and serving dishes. There’s a wonderful space around the wooden butcher block to cook together.
Right next door is a back kitchen/pantry with plenty of storage for your groceries, an extra sink, and more counter space.
☕ A bean-to-cup coffee machine and a filter coffee maker are at your disposal.
Under the stairs, you'll find a large cellar, cool and dry, to complement the fridge. You can safely store your drinks, fruits, and vegetables there.
🔥 The kitchen is wide open to the dining and living room. This "cocooning" space features a wood-burning stove and two large tables where everyone can gather for meals (seats 20 people).
🛌 Bedrooms:
First Floor: The first 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (2 of which are en-suite).
Bedroom 1: 1 double bed (140cm) and 1 single bed (80 x 200cm).
Bedroom 2: 1 double bed (160cm, can be split into 2 singles) + 1 wooden baby cot.
These two rooms share a large bathroom with a shower and toilet.
Bedroom 3: 1 double bed (160cm, can be split into 2 singles). Private en-suite with walk-in shower and toilet.
Bedroom 4: 1 double bed (180cm, can be split into 2 singles). Private en-suite with walk-in shower and toilet.
Second Floor: Bedrooms 5 and 6, both with private en-suite bathrooms (walk-in shower and toilet).
Bedroom 5: 1 double bed (160cm, can be split into 2 singles) + 1 wooden baby cot.
Bedroom 6: 1 double bed (160cm, can be split into 2 singles).
These two rooms open onto a games and reading area with 1 sofa bed.
All beds are made upon your arrival with washed linen sheets, and towels are provided.
The double rooms are flexible thanks to our Queen Size beds that can be separated into 2 single beds if needed (ideal for children or yoga retreats/workshops where you share a room but not a bed).

If you are looking for nature and space, you have come to the right place. The house is surrounded by greenery, wildlife, and forest.
🏕️ The 2.5-hectare grounds include a natural campsite to add 6 extra beds during the summer season (some pitches have electricity). This is exclusively dedicated to your group when you book the house and your party exceeds the house's capacity (€15/pers./night).
We have also set up a charming little caravan for 4 people (2 double beds) in a corner of the garden for those who don't have camping gear (€25/night).
🦌 🦊 From your tent or the caravan, you can discreetly observe the forest animals that sometimes approach when everything is quiet—magical moments to share with family or friends.
The campsite has a dedicated bathroom area with 2 toilets and 2 easily accessible shower cubicles.
Around the house, you'll find various furnished spots with garden lounges or deckchairs, like under the huge lime tree where you can relax in the shade. Further on is the orchard with fruit trees and berries to pick during your stay.
To share meals, enjoy the large shaded terrace, a perfect hub for socializing.
🥾 🚴 The garden is also the starting point for many walks, mountain bike rides, or cycling trips on beautiful marked trails.

⚠️ Family reunions, birthdays, and quiet festive occasions are welcome! However, if you are looking to throw a wild party, please choose another gîte. We wish to maintain good relations with our neighbors and ensure the property is respected.
Baby Equipment: We provide everything you need: 2 booster seats, 1 high chair, 1 travel cot (in addition to the two wooden cots), toys, and books.
Climate: The house is not air-conditioned, but it doesn't need to be! The 1-meter-thick walls keep it perfectly cool in summer. In winter, we heat with a pellet boiler. You can also enjoy the warmth of the wood stove (€10 per basket with kindling, logs, and firelighters, on request).
🐾 Pets: We accept clean and well-behaved dogs. Please inform us at the time of booking (€10/animal per night). We ask that dogs stay in the common areas and do not enter the bedrooms. The garden is not enclosed.
🌐 WIFI is available. 4G is very good in the village and the house. Fiber is on its way!
🅿️ You can park up to 10 cars in the gîte's parking lot.
👨🍳 Catering: We can put you in touch with Sebastien, a caterer, once your booking is confirmed. He delivers meals (tested and approved!) to the house. He also offers pizzas in the village on some Friday and Saturday nights.

🕔 Check-in: The gîte will be ready from 5:00 PM (6:00 PM in summer). Self-check-in via a key box; we will send you the code and an explainer video on the day of arrival. Early check-in may be possible depending on the calendar—contact us!
🕚 Check-out: Before 11:00 AM (10:00 AM in summer). We will do a walk-through with you 15 minutes before. Late check-out is possible for a fee if there is no booking immediately after yours.
Mandatory Cleaning & Linen Fee: €190 (Includes end-of-stay cleaning, washed linen bedding with beds made, towels, liquid soap, trash bags, tea towels, sponges, and basic pantry staples). This is automatically included in your quote.
📅 Minimum stay: 2 nights year-round. 3 or 4 nights for long weekends, Christmas, and New Year. 7 nights in summer (Sunday to Sunday).
