2 Mazi Suites

First, you need to understand the context. 2Mazi Suites is like a conservation project. An old building with its interiors renovated to fit modern standards, but still keeping its old charms. Having said that, it is expected that doors and windows will be jammed at times and floors creak when you walk. If you want an entirely modern structure, you should go for the newly built hotels around Athens. We stayed at their Presidential Suite for 10 days and we loved our stay overall. This has got to be the biggest toilet I've seen when it comes to travel accommodations. Sure the carpets and curtains are not exactly sparkling clean, leaves fall from the balconies surrounding the room and sometimes they even gets inside, but it is just like staying at your grandmother's house outside the city. Most importantly is that the beddings are in pristine condition. The towels are clean. You have very clean, modern, functional facilities such as toilet, heaters etc. The garden restaurant downstairs is close for the winter but the indoor restaurant remains open. They serve delicious meals and my fave has got to be the squid and the eggplant dip for the bread. We were not "left abandoned" in a huge space. The manager, ***, checks on us almost everyday. He is available everyday at the restaurant downstairs up until 11pm. He even brings down our thrash for us at times. Very warm and accommodating guy. The property team were also active and responsive via Agoda Chat (except during Christmas period). Communication is the key! If there's any that I miss about staying in actual hotels would be the daily cleaning. The suite only got cleaned twice during our 10 days stay. And the only problem we have encountered is that water pressure gets really bad when there are other guests in the other suites (we were alone in the whole place for the first 5 days, there are 4 more other smaller suites on top of the Presidential Suite that we occupy). Even when staying in hotels, you know they don't wash their carpets and curtains regularly, so I find that nit-picking reviews about this place is very unreasonable, to the point that you were checking the corners of their heater and the top of their aircon units. Who does that other than competitors finding fault? Do you check hotel aircon vents? I can tell you that some 5-star hotels can be filtier than that. Do you expect heavy drapes to be washed every week? Some hotels don't even wash their curtains til another renovation is due. Overall, I'd say, get your expectations right based on the type of accommodation you booked. Book an accomodation based on your requirements (daily cleaning or modern buildings, get a hotel). 2Mazi delivered the homely cosiness we expected when we booked it. Presidential Suite is super spacious that we felt cramped when we were booking overnight stay across our roadtrips in Greece during this trip. *** is a great host!
