Don’t let the old exterior fool you - this hotel is superb. Great rooms, really good size - smack bang in the middle of everything. Close to the waterfront and super comfy beds!

We chose a heavily discounted 'comfort room' which stipulated bed and room assigned on arrival. We discovered that the room was a twin so we asked at reception whether they had a double available instead. At this point the English communication wasn't the best, but a fellow who appeared to be plain clothes security went to the room with us and pushed the two beds together then left. At no time in my opinion is this a true double bed and even less so if the appropriate sheets and duvet aren't used. It was still two single beds - just with a smaller gap than before! But perhaps they didn't have an option and we did after all agree on booking to bed assignment on arrival - so got what we paid for! The communication and implementation was badly lacking however. Not sure if all 'double rooms' are configures similarly?
Otherwise the room was totally fine. Quite large, comfy enough mattresses without being exceptional, minibar, hot water kettle, central heating and reverse cycle a/c. The stairwell area is not the prettiest but perhaps that is a work in progress as the halls are very nicely fitted out.
We had read many reviews about nightclub noise, but fortunately it was reasonably quiet when we were there during weekdays. Our room was on the 4th floor which is the top floor so this perhaps would help.
Breakfast was quite ok, typical continental style. There was brewed coffee available but the espresso machine required coins, presumably Dinar.
Although it is branded a no smoking hotel, the breakfast room had ash trays procided and people were smoking there. Not a big deal for us, but be warned if you are sensitive to that!
