Our stay at Weltevreden Estate was unfortunately disappointing. The room was located upstairs (about 12 steps), which wasn’t ideal when carrying luggage. There was no assistance offered to help bring bags up. The security staff member who escorted us to the room was friendly and kind, but the overall check-in process lacked proper structure and flow. There didn’t seem to be a clear reception system — only security and someone to sign paperwork, with no clear point of contact for guest assistance. Cleanliness was a major concern. The carpeted floors were dusty and felt unclean. The upstairs lounge area was said to be available for guests, but when my mom sat down, a significant amount of dust flew into the air — it clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The room door was also difficult to close, and the bathroom felt quite old and dated. It feels like the owner that lives literally here too that does not care about the guest home. We don't like that the toilet is in the open and no form of closing, the cover stand that gave was hard to move. Floors creak a lot but kinda normal since its old. TV did not work properly and appeared makeshift. By the time we want to rest at night and there's not a way to get staff help. The biggest issue was insects. On the first night alone, around seven insects dropped onto my bed and were flying around the room. Insect spray is definitely needed. This made the stay quite uncomfortable. I could not sleep because I was scared. Breakfast was average at best. The quality felt low, though my mom mentioned the bagel was decent. Most staff we encountered were friendly, which we appreciated. The website describes the estate as offering “comfort and luxury,” but this did not match our experience. Those that are familiar with luxury hotels would likely not consider this property luxurious or particularly comfortable. Additionally, for an estate, there aren’t many areas to walk or explore. It’s so special to stay in this historic building, which has been beautifully decorated. We had lovely friendly staff, a very comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast. Just a pleasure for a couple’s getaway!

The pot was in d bedroom facing the bed. An open pot. The person who stayed before ys probably left some clothes. So the room was not cleaned
