Nice hotel with spectacular views.

The hotel has an air of faded glory about it, but to be fair, I was there in the shoulder season during a big storm, so perhaps I didn't see it at its best. I was especially hoping to take advantage of the big veranda, but with 75 mph winds, that was not an option! The high ceilings do kind of beg for more people so it doesn't feel rather tomb-like... The somewhat dated room was fine, but I was disappointed that the window didn't open at all because it was a little warm for my comfort.
Even with fewer guests, they expect dinner to be reserved, and while I just had a very good soup, others seemed to enjoy their somewhat expensive main dishes and desserts. The breakfast was very average full-English fare.
The location on the hill is not what I'd call "walkable", but in exchange you do get great views. Most of the staff was quite nice, with the exception of a somewhat grumpy bartender.

The nearby harboir town had quite a few bars and restaurants for a small town. Sports bar great and people exceptionally welcoming

Check in was quick and easy, staff were friendly and polite, room was clean and tidy, dinner was nice, only downside I can say, is the TV was tiny
