I arrived at check in tired from visiting my husband who is in hospital. During check in asked if there were rooms available for the following evening as o needed to be close by. The receptionist said sorry they were fully booked for Tuesday as lots of brewery people were staying .
I was shown to room ***, a twin room on the ground floor. The receptionist commented on how cold the room felt so she adjusted the aircon. The aircon did not warm up so she offered me an oil filled heater to which I declined. Instead she ‘upgraded’ me to a double room. I went downstairs to find some food and was greeted by a charming barman who showed me up a table in the rather cold dining room., the scampi, chips and peas arrived, the chips were dry , peas looked sad but the scampi was delicious.The room was empty apart from two ladies dining behind me . I ordered food and whilst I was waiting the receptionist went to the two ladies behind me and said do t worry come to reception and I will find a room for you tomorrow evening! I was astounded and far too emotionally tired to tackle her.
I went to my room and it was a comfortable night . I cannot comment on breakfast I I decide against it.
Although I had a comfortable night I am not sure I would stay there again, the three star hotel up the road was far better and much more comfortable.
