I would recommend this place and will definitely return! I was skeptical at first to book relating to complaints about the hotel being old/ unkept and under staffed. These were not issues at all! First of all the building was built in the 1800’s and is absolutely charming, clean, and well maintained. There has been some renovations but the character and beauty of the mansion remains intact. The hotel being under staffed I didn’t find to be an issue seeing I was staying in a bed and breakfast and not a chain hotel. At B&Bs it is typical for there just to be the inn keeper in the evening and house keeping during the day. The staff was kind, friendly and very helpful when needed. I love the little warm touches like non alcoholic refreshments left in the mini fridge and snacks that could be replenished. Breakfast was basic but suitable. It isn’t regulated and it is first come first serve. If you wait too late in the morning to get your breakfast they can run out. If you want old world charm, and a boutique experience stay at the Melrose mansion you will not regret it!
